Concentration in Pure Mathematics

Financial Wealth Management
Suffolk’s Wealth Management major combines courses in finance, investment analysis, risk management, and retirement, estate, and financial planning to help you build strong analytical and decision-making skills. When you graduate, you will be prepared for a career in wealth management with a major firm, or to start your own wealth management business, helping individuals and companies plan for their financial futures. Economics
As an economics major at Suffolk University, you’ll be part of a vibrant community of students, scholars, and professors who synthesize data to solve social issues and substantiate policy decisions. As an economics major, you’ll learn to think logically to solve problems. You’ll also use observations and datasets to make important inferences. Media and film are dynamic concepts that are constantly evolving; therefore, students need to prepare themselves to be adaptable creators in the industries. To that end, the major guides students through considerations of both practical and critical nature to ensure that students learn how the two areas exist with mutual benefit to one another. Upon graduation, students are prepared for both practical work in the industry and graduate studies in film or media theory or a specialized production area.

Biochemistry
Like chemistry, our biochemistry program follows a coursework sequence endorsed by the American Chemical Society (ACS), which is highly respected distinction as you go on to graduate and professional work. You can also join Suffolk's award-winning student chapters of the ACS, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), or our Health Professions Club. These clubs enjoy activities ranging from invited scientist lectures to community service projects. You might also volunteer at the nearby Museum of Science or at the Cambridge Science Festival. Additionally, opportunities are available to attend the national meetings of the ACS and ASBMB to learn about current research from experts in the field and even present your research in a national forum.

Suffolk's biochemistry major positions you well for careers in rapidly developing fields in the life sciences. More than half of our recent graduates go on to work as lab technicians and research assistants in academic, biotech/pharma, and hospital labs. Many other alumni go on to health professional schools to become nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, and doctors, or to a variety of graduate programs in biochemistry, food science, and pharmacology.

Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. In advanced seminars, you'll delve into the works of the great philosophers—Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and others.

Suffolk University's Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) program is the first of its kind in the Boston area. An interdisciplinary major that draws from three academic departments, PPE will give you a foundation in policy, ethics, and economics.
