Anthropology
Anthropology—the study of humankind, past and present—has the widest scope of all the social sciences. With an understanding of other people and their cultures, you'll be prepared for a career in a variety of fields, including international business, law, teaching, forensic science, language interpretation, environmental conservation, or even museum curation.

To enhance your degree, we offer the opportunity to complete an honors program, study abroad, or design your own personalized program. You'll have access to a student research room and an impressive collection of artifacts. Your professors will teach you about topics such as cultural anthropology and archaeology—and they can provide valuable experience by partnering with you to make a difference through research on peace studies and human rights

Information Systems are the backbone of modern organizations. With today’s speed of innovation, organizations need help keeping up with emerging technologies and understanding how different applications can be leveraged to accomplish enterprise objectives. The amount of information generated each day can be overwhelming. Organizations need the best technological solutions to make sense of the data, and individuals who know how to develop them are in high demand, unlike some other computer related fields. Information Systems requires a blend of technical expertise and business savvy. Immunology
Immunology is the study of the immune system, including the cells, organs, tissues, and the function the system plays in protecting humans against infectious diseases. It's the perfect foundation for a career in health care, biomedical research, or nearly anything that requires a white coat.

In fact, immunology is a collaborative field, and that's why your training will come from a broad spectrum of the scientific community. You'll take classes in biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, taught through both our medical school and biology department. And, we’ll help you prepare for a continued education or career in fields such as biochemistry, cell biology, cancer biology, infectious diseases, neurobiology, endocrinology, and cardiology.

Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior. If you want to understand social behavior in the real world, sociology is where you find the answers. From large-scale social processes occurring in the wider society beyond the individual to the dynamics of social interaction within small groups, sociology investigates the complexities of human social relationships. Regardless of your chosen career path, having a critical understanding of the social world will put you at the forefront of your career field!

Graduates of sociology have gone on to careers in administration and management (in government, private business, and nonprofit organizations), marketing, sales, politics, communications, social services (youth, senior, and poverty), corrections/investigation (local, state, and federal), and public relations, just to name a few. This major is designed for flexibility to help you achieve your goals. It emphasizes adaptability, thinking, writing, and communication skills.

The BGS helps prepare you mainly for support careers in various fields, including government, health care, real estate, general social services and the service-producing sector, law, retail, and private industry.

You can learn the skills you need as an administrator, physician, nurse, patient safety officer, or quality manager.

In fact, we specifically designed our program specifically so you'll get critical applied instruction that you can integrate with the daily tasks of your profession. As a digital forensics professional, you'll examine digital evidence and protect computer systems from hackers and malware. With threats continuing to mount, digital forensics experts are in high demand at companies that need cybersecurity. Careers are available in computer science, criminal justice, information systems, information technology, or law.

But catching cyber criminals means you have to think like them—and then outsmart them. So we're going to teach you the programming knowledge and tools you need to do just that. We're also going to teach you about legal evidence-gathering, investigation processes, and more. Best of all, because our criminal justice program is the only one in Alabama that requires an internship, you'll have real-world experience on your resume when it's time to find a job.

Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering (BME) is the application of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to biology and medicine. BME knowledge and skills play important roles in modern healthcare — from diagnosis and analysis to treatment and recovery, and from the proliferation of implantable medical devices (such as pacemakers and artificial hips) to more futuristic technologies (such as stem cell engineering and 3D printing of biological organs).

Biomedical engineers differ from other engineering disciplines that have an influence on human health. How? Biomedical engineers use and apply an intimate knowledge of modern biological principles in their engineering design process. Subdisciplines in BME include design and development of active and passive medical devices, orthopedic implants, medical imaging, biomedical signal processing, tissue and stem cell engineering, and clinical engineering, just to name a few.
