But before you see your name in lights, we first have to hone your talents and teach you about topics such as scenery, lighting, makeup, and even theatre history. But don't worry, we'll want to get you on the stage often during your education, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to put your new skills to use. In fact, with our state-of-the-art theatres and scene design shop, you'll have opportunities to participate in or create professional-level productions.

A business can't succeed without the right employees, and at UAB, we can teach you how to build, manage, and grow a successful team. With a degree in human resource management, you can choose to work with businesses big and small and in many different industries.

In fact, there are very high standards for this field set by the Society for Human Resource Management, and we've designed our curriculum specifically to meet those standards. That's why, in addition to your core and elective coursework, we're going to provide you with the opportunity to participate in an internship, research project, or study-abroad trip. Atoms, particles, quarks—if your passion is to learn about everything that makes up everything, a master's in chemistry is perfect for you. In fact, since we're tied to the UAB School of Medicine, you could go on to work in drug discovery, biophysical chemistry, nano materials, organic polymers, inorganic materials, education, and so much more. Medical Sociology
Medical sociology looks at how a person's culture, feelings, and other social factors play a role in their health-care choices. A medical sociology degree can help prepare you for a career in health care, research, government data analysis, or other industries.

To begin your education, you'll take courses in medical sociology, medical social theory, and research methods/statistics. You'll then move on to electives on special topics that interest you, such as Death and Dying, Biology and Society, and Minority Aging. We know, some of these topics can get a little heavy—but they're important. And when you pair them with a pre-professional medical program, you'll have insights to social behaviors that can be invaluable to you throughout your career.

Computer science, simply put, is about computers, computer systems, and how they work. Careers in computer science have grown and become more important as computers have become a part of almost every industry.

To help prepare you for the workforce or graduate school, we actually reduced the math, science, and core computer science requirements to earn a BA in Computer Science. Why? So you can earn a non-computing minor or double major in a field such as art studio, biology, criminal justice, entrepreneurship, or professional writing. With that diverse background, you can apply the tools and techniques of computer science to solving problems in science, arts, humanities, business, engineering, and other areas. Your computer science classes will include Object-Oriented Programming, Computer Organization and Assembly Language Programming, and Algorithms and Data Structures, among others.

But catching cyber criminals means you have to think like them—and then outsmart them. So we're going to teach you the programming knowledge and tools you need to do just that.
