Students in the Community and Museums emphasis of the Art and Visual Culture Education major gain theoretical knowledge along with practical experience. The course of study for the Bachelor of Fine Arts introduces students to community-based arts education, design pedagogy, civic engagement and social practice - and how those work together. Students interact with practitioners in the field through hands-on experiences, guest lectures, internships and real-life projects. Students learn to design curriculum, facilitate arts programming, fundraise and lead program management. Upon graduation, students embark on careers in arts and education organizations as program coordinators, directors, outreach managers, teaching artists, and advocates in education and social work.

The academic study of philosophy is the pursuit of the fundamental truths about people, the world in which they inhabit and their relationships to each other. This Bachelor of Arts prepares students to continue graduate work in philosophy, especially those interested in law school. Philosophy majors thoughtfully dissect questions such as, ""Do our perceptions represent the way things really are?"" ""What can science tell us about the true nature of the world?"" or ""Does my identity persist through time?"" The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program asks students to choose from one of two emphases and language or culture. The two differ in the amount of language students learn. The Chinese Culture Intensive focus requires less language and provides a strong foundation in Chinese history, religion, culture and society. Students learn how to articulate the commonalities, complexity and diversity within and across Chinese culture. As the second-largest economy in the world, China is a significant player on the international stage, and a degree specializing in Chinese culture offers a wealth of professional opportunities.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Water Resource Economics prepares students to become responsible leaders in the management of natural resources through coursework in quantitative methods, economics, politics and communication. The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law is an interdisciplinary major that offers a comprehensive perspective of current social, economic and political issues. The content draws on courses from philosophy, politics and economics, but the heart of the program is a set of specialized core courses designed exclusively for majors. These are taught in small classroom settings by distinguished faculty with appointments in philosophy, political science, economics and law. Students learn to analyze the fundamental values that shape the economic, political and legal domains; develop an understanding of the moral and historical foundations of economic institutions and political-legal structures; and gain logical thinking and conceptual analysis skills.

Our planet is more than meets the eye. Explore Earth from its origin and history to its components and how they interact with each other. Students who select the Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with a Geology emphasis take an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the planet. In this top-ranked program, students learn scientific research skills; gain experience working with data and technology in the field and in the laboratory; and study the Earth's origin and history, as well as the planet's components and how they interact with one another. Geology students participate in a Capstone Summer Field Camp in the later part of their program that provides hands-on experience applying their content knowledge in the field.
