The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program asks students to choose from one of two emphases and language or culture. The two differ in the amount of language students learn. The Chinese Culture Intensive focus requires less language and provides a strong foundation in Chinese history, religion, culture and society. Students learn how to articulate the commonalities, complexity and diversity within and across Chinese culture. As the second-largest economy in the world, China is a significant player on the international stage, and a degree specializing in Chinese culture offers a wealth of professional opportunities.

Are you driven to continue to create and to express yourself through the art of dance? Join kindred spirits in the University of Arizona's dance program, rated among the top five in the country. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is a professional degree that provides students with technical training and performance experience. The program's triple-track design means students can study ballet, modern and jazz with equal emphasis. Students approach the study of dance as an art form and also as a means to understand society, history, the human body and other areas of scholarly endeavor. The core curriculum includes history, research in world dance, biomechanics, improvisation, choreography, music, musical theatre vocal training, production, and career planning. Majors may choose to emphasize ballet, modern or jazz dance in their technical classes and in performance, or maintain a broad, diverse approach.

When music informs everything you do from who you are to what you love embark on a degree that sets you up for success in the field of music performance and advances your euphonium skills. Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Euphonium can take advantage of the Fred Fox School of Music's two concert bands, a select wind ensemble, two jazz bands, numerous jazz combos and a large and challenging orchestra program. In addition to these performance opportunities, students benefit from personalized attention and instruction. This includes a weekly lesson, a studio class, daily warm-ups and technique classes, plus ensemble and chamber coaching. The School of Music averages between 450 and 550 students, which provides opportunities that are typically only offered at larger schools of music.

If you're interested in tackling big-picture issues and policy when it comes to health concerns, consider the Public Health major's Health Systems Theory and Practice emphasis. Corporations, organizations, governments and communities need public health leaders to focus on planning, management and administration. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science with a major in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Health Systems Theory and Practice emphasis is one of several concentrations within the major. Students in this emphasis take courses in health economics and policy, public health law and ethics, healthcare marketing, and strategic planning. Undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience in their area of interest.

Learn how a Thematic emphasis within the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science major allows you to focus on a specific topic of interest. Neuroscience and cognitive science are broad areas of scientific study. Students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with a Thematic emphasis can choose an in-depth topical focus that matches their future career, research or study goals. The Thematic emphasis is meant for students who have a clear and compelling interest in a particular topic area in neuroscience and cognitive science that falls outside the scope of the major's several other emphases. Students wishing to choose a Thematic focus will be required to explain to faculty what the topic area is and why it doesn't align with the current emphases, as well as support the objectives of their coursework. As with the other emphases, research and independent study can be used for up to six of the 15 credits required to complete an emphasis.

Anthropology is the study of all aspects of human existence. Students in this Bachelor of Arts program learn to ask questions about essential components of the human experience, such as language, cultural development, environment and biology. Guided by respected anthropologists, students hone their ability to describe, interpret and predict human behavior, a skill applicable to industries as far-reaching as journalism and technology. Immerse yourself in the Spanish language while learning various cultures through the ages via Hispanic the Literature emphasis. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Hispanic Literature emphasis will take language courses in both Spanish and Portuguese while studying Hispanic literature. Outside of the classroom, students hone their Spanish language conversation skills in Spanish Club or their Portuguese-speaking skills in Bate Papo. Various study abroad programs through the University of Arizona provide Spanish majors the opportunity for additional language and cultural immersion, adding to their undergraduate experience.
