The Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences provides an interdisciplinary approach to learning about food, nutritional therapies and optimal well-being. The program offers two areas of study. Students who opt for the Nutrition emphasis start with a strong science core - biology, chemistry, anatomy - and then tailor the coursework to their interests. For example, students who wish to pursue graduate school in the medical, dental or physical therapy fields take additional math and science classes; other students incorporate accounting, economics and food services studies to prepare for careers in food and nutritional management.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences with Emphasis in Dietetics

Be on the front lines of helping people live healthier, happier lives. Thanks to important new research in disease prevention, the field of nutrition is growing. The Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences is a science-heavy approach to nutritional therapies and human health and well-being. The program offers two areas of study. Students in the Dietetics emphasis take courses in medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, nutrition counseling and food service management. Students are eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietetic Technicians after graduating to earn the Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered credential. Beginning January 1, 2024, students must have earned a master's degree in order to sit for the RDN exam.

Urban and Regional Development is the study of economic development and sustainability of our built and natural environments. This Bachelor of Science addresses questions of urban and regional growth, location of economic activity, land development and real estate. Students learn to analyze data, use cartographic and geographic information systems and gain hands-on training in the field. Additionally, students learn interactively in remote-sensing laboratories. Upon graduation, they enter the workforce with directly applicable skills such as teamwork and collaboration; analytical research; a working knowledge of industry software; design; strategic thinking; and understanding of planning law and legislation.

Bachelor of Science in Food Safety

Feed the world. Protect the future. And be the leader who will create solutions to global priorities within the food sector. The Bachelor of Science in Food Safety is housed within the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences and looks at how food science, regulation and law pertain to public and ecosystem health and sustainability. Projections estimate the food sector will need to safely produce, package and distribute sustenance for 9 billion people by 2050. That challenge requires innovation and collaboration as governments and businesses look to leaders who understand the opportunities and constraints in this complex industry. This interdisciplinary program trains students to become those leaders.

The Global Change Ecology and Management emphasis in the Bachelor of Science program for Natural Resources highlights how global changes affect all ecosystems and provides students with the training and expertise for managing those changes now and in the coming years. Students not only gain a broad understanding of biological and physical sciences, but they also learn about conservation law, socioeconomics and new technologies for geospatial mapping and remote sensing. The program cultivates skills in leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, management and critical thinking. Graduates are prepared to work as natural resource scientists, managers and leaders ready to address evolving management changes in the face of global change. They are also prepared for graduate programs in ecology, biology, law and more.

Two machines and computers and the human brain ?interact to bring us the Information Age. Become one of the inventive computer scientists shaping this cutting-edge field. The Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science equips students to design, implement and test programs that solve significant and meaningful problems. Students learn how to collaborate to develop large software systems and can explain the purpose, design and implementation of programs. Graduates are able to design and analyze algorithms and can evaluate the correctness and performance of computer programs. To earn this B.A., students must start as Pre-computer Science majors and complete a core set of classes. No application is required to progress from Pre-computer Science to Computer Science. Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

Learn the Russian language while gaining a deep understanding of Russian culture through the study of literature, film and more. Students wishing to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Russian can follow one of two tracks. The Culture Focused emphasis helps students become well versed not only in the Russian language but also in heritage.
