For students who want a competitive edge, valuable connections, and real-world experience in the evolving fashion industry, the M.S. in Global Fashion Enterprise (MSGFE) program expands the career horizons of forward-thinking professionals with diverse backgrounds in fashion design, merchandising, management, and other industries. Jefferson's active, collaborative approach to education in our Nexus Learning model is the foundation of this program’s curriculum. In a hands-on learning environment, students examine new fashion designs, ideas and technologies to create viable business models and market-driven innovation. In addition to the 22 core credit hours, the MSGFE program culminates in 9 credits of Global Fashion Project courses. This unique experience allows for significant customization for students to meet career aspirations. In these courses, students from disparate backgrounds work in teams to find new product or system opportunities, then design and prototype functional products or systems that answer the requirements of their research findings. Students also benefit from the projects by working directly with successful fashion and apparel companies. Regular meetings with outside project stakeholders take place to give students networking opportunities that may translate into exciting internship and employment opportunities.

The four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (B.S.) program allows students to focus on a field allied to the profession of architecture. After common first-year studios that lay the foundation for visual thinking, students will select two minors based upon their areas of academic and professional interest. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors that allow Architectural Studies students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis with a liberal arts focus. Opportunities exist for collaborative studios, fieldwork, study abroad options, professional internships and elective offerings.

Contemporary architecture encompasses a number of discrete, though intersecting, disciplines and requires individuals trained to fill a variety of roles beyond that of designer. The College of Architecture and the Built Environment offers an array of minors to allow students to customize their education and earn a degree with a pre-professional design emphasis and a liberal arts focus. Options range from areas that are intrinsic to making and constructing buildings and environments, such as building technology, to fields that support the rehabilitation and documentation of architecture and sites, such as historic preservation.

The Jefferson College of Population Health (JCPH) offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree, which is nationally accredited through the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Students develop competencies in several key public health areas: health behavior and social sciences, biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, policy and advocacy, program planning, implementation and evaluation, and others. The interdisciplinary curriculum stresses leadership skills, systems thinking, health communication, global health, and cultural humility and competency. JCPH also offers a Graduate Certificate in Public Health, which provides students with the foundational knowledge and skills for public health practice.

Public health professionals track disease outbreaks, conduct community health assessments, plan health education programs and direct campaigns to reduce risk factors that foster chronic health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. They develop and advocate for policies, both public and private, that reduce harmful environmental exposures and that provide increased access to preventive health services for underserved populations. Many engage in public health research and support multi-cultural global health initiatives here and abroad.

Public health professionals take the lead in local, state and federal health agencies, community health centers and hospitals, non-governmental health organizations (NGOs), schools and universities, professional health agencies, health insurance companies and other related businesses.

Public health students come from a variety of fields and have included:

• Recent college graduates with majors in natural or social sciences, including pre-med or other pre-professional students seeking an educational experience during their gap or glide year
• Not-so-recent college graduates with relevant work experience wishing to enhance their health-related career or make a career change
• Students currently enrolled in a professional program (medicine, law, pharmacy, social work) who wish to earn an additional degree in public health as part of a dual degree program
• Health or related professionals working in government, community health organizations, non-profits, healthcare settings, health insurance companies, the pharmaceutical industry and academic institutions

Designed for high school graduates that are interested in pursuing a career in the health and fitness. This program provides a high quality educational experience that couples both classroom and hands-on educational experiences necessary to obtain employment in a variety of health and fitness settings including:

The Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling MS program will provide students integrative education and training to become compassionate and knowledgeable genetic counselors.

Learning Outcomes

• Jefferson College of Life Sciences launched our MS program in Human Genetics & Genetic Counseling, in the Fall of 2017.  
• Employment of genetic counselors is projected to grow 21% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are only 48 graduate genetic counseling programs in the country.  Placement of a new genetic counseling program within the rich clinical and health science environment of the Jefferson enterprise would provide students significant competitive advantage.

The groundbreaking M.S. in International Fashion Design Management program is developed to create the next generation of fashion professionals for a complex global fashion system. Students are invited to create their own path, and customize the experience to focus on different tracks with global opportunities right at their fingertips. By moving beyond the hand-crafted approach to fashion, students will have the opportunity to focus on design as a strategic function, integrated along the cycle of research and design, product development, branding and distribution.

This 30-credit degree offers flexible hybrid and virtual components. During the final semester, students participate in an outbound experience, which is student led and faculty advised to allow students to research and study in any region in the world. Students select a mentor and location, and determine the length of their stay in that region to offer more flexibility. During the final semester, participants create a project that demonstrates topic mastery through synthesis of knowledge and skills inspired from their previous coursework.

International & Industry Collaboration
Through this program, students explore fashion design through the lens of industry importance and learn about how it drives economic and social transformation. With an emphasis on Global Fashion, students study international fashion regions alongside influential industry leaders. Industry engagements and partnerships with top brands create exclusive networking connections, and help students develop a clear understanding of generating and developing a wide variety of ideas that uphold a professional standard. 

The Master of Science degree in Construction Management (MSCM), a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program, is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills to plan and manage each phase of the construction process as applied to complex commercial, infrastructure and residential building projects. The mission of the program is to provide students with a broad practice–oriented understanding of construction technology, business, architecture, and engineering, with specific emphasis on the management of the construction process from project inception to close-out. Courses within the program are designed to prepare graduates to excel in leadership positions, with a focus on building quality projects, safely, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.

Hands-on activities allow students to learn and excel in construction-related activities and software applications. Classes are offered in an on campus (day and evening), hybrid, and/or online version to allow students to have the flexibility of planning their schedules and continuing to work in their jobs.

The M.S. in Textile Design at Thomas Jefferson University offers an integrated, collaborative and proven curriculum that blends aesthetic, creative skills with emerging technologies. In studios and classrooms, students turn innovative ideas into original products.

State-of-the-art facilities, including The Center for Excellence of Digital Printing, electronic jacquard and dobby looms, computerized knitting machines, and extensive computer-aided design laboratories enable students to put professional skills into practice. The Design studio courses make up the majority of the coursework in the MS program and design research is stressed from the beginning.

Graduate students select either knit, print or weave as their area of concentration and the courses are taught by active members of the textile design field: artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing real-world applications to the classroom experience.
Partnerships with industry, nexus learning sponsored projects, national and international design competitions and exhibitions at international trade shows provide practical experience as students prepare for graduation.

The Jefferson Textile Design program is enhanced by study abroad opportunities and a strong internship program. This TJU program gives graduates a commanding competitive edge in the global textile marketplace with our graduates attaining positions in all areas of the industry from national and international firms to boutique specialty retailers.

The Master of Science Program in Pharmacology prepares graduates for positions in:

• Toxicology review and assessment

Graduates have been accepted into PhD and professional degree programs.
The MS Pharmacology Program also offers a track in Human Investigation. This track is for residents and fellows doing post-graduate clinical training.

Students applying to the Program should have taken undergraduate general and organic chemistry courses and at least one biology course. An undergraduate biochemistry course is strongly recommended, but not required.

The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key.

The marketing program at Thomas Jefferson University prepares students to become professionals with a broad understanding of business, communication, sales and research.

As a marketing student, you will benefit from dynamic, multidisciplinary training in multimedia communications and business. Additionally, you will learn to analyze demand and market segments, design budgets and campaigns, increase a company’s brand equity, and formulate marketing plans from start to finish.
