Sonography (ultrasound) uses sound waves to generate an image for the assessment and diagnosis of various medical conditions. It can be used to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions in the body. It is often associated with imaging during pregnancy. Sonographers provide guidance during fine-needle tissue biopsy and use sophisticated diagnostic ultrasound imaging machines and transducers that use high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of:

• Abdominal organs (including liver, gallbladder, kidney)
• Pelvis
• Obstetrics (pregnancy)
• Superficial structures (including breast, testis, thyroid)
• Abdominal blood vessels

Sonographers work directly with healthy and critically ill inpatients and outpatients of all ages, performing predominantly noninvasive procedures in small, low-lit rooms. They stand or sit beside the patient, who is on a stretcher, exam table or wheelchair. Sometimes the sonographer will transport a portable ultrasound to a patient's room and perform the test there.

The M.S. in Taxation Program at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) is geared toward practicing accountants in the fields of public, corporate, and governmental accounting as well as lawyers, financial managers and planners who need extensive information and formal study in taxation. The program prepares students for professional tax practice whether they are earning their degree, expanding their expertise on a specific topic, or taking courses to maintain their CPA license. We offer full-time and part-time options to accommodate work schedules and to allow students to earn their degrees rapidly.

The MS Pharmacology Program also offers a track in Human Investigation. This track is for residents and fellows doing post-graduate clinical training.

Students applying to the Program should have taken undergraduate general and organic chemistry courses and at least one biology course. An undergraduate biochemistry course is strongly recommended, but not required.

The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Jefferson's active, collaborative approach to education in our Nexus Learning model is the foundation of this program’s curriculum. In a hands-on learning environment, students examine new fashion designs, ideas and technologies to create viable business models and market-driven innovation. In addition to the 22 core credit hours, the MSGFE program culminates in 9 credits of Global Fashion Project courses. This unique experience allows for significant customization for students to meet career aspirations. In these courses, students from disparate backgrounds work in teams to find new product or system opportunities, then design and prototype functional products or systems that answer the requirements of their research findings. Students also benefit from the projects by working directly with successful fashion and apparel companies. Regular meetings with outside project stakeholders take place to give students networking opportunities that may translate into exciting internship and employment opportunities.

The M.S. in Textile Technology at Jefferson offers an integrated and collaborative curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with experiential laboratory experiences. In many courses students turn innovative ideas into original products.  It is expected that graduates of the program will pursue careers in production, product evaluation, research and development, or management in the textile and apparel related fields.

The program teaches cutting-edge technical textile processes to students interested in learning more about the science and technical based aspects of textiles. Courses focus on development, production, and characterization of fibers, yarns, fabrics, and textile based products.   The program combines theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with hands-on experience with weaving, knitting, nonwovens, and composites production equipment in the innovative Fashion and Textiles Futures Center, as well as materials evaluation equipment in the Grundy Lab on the East Falls campus.

This active and collaborative program will prepare you for what’s next. You start collecting chemical knowledge and skills through core courses and shadowing faculty and upper-level student researchers.  As a sophomore, you will start helping with authentic, real-world research projects – experience many biochemistry students don’t get until graduate programs. This is possible thanks to the individual attention you get in our small classes and our well-equipped research laboratories.

The M.S. in Architecture program is an advanced post-professional, research- based degree, featuring two concentrations: Façade Design and Technology and High Performance Building. This degree prepares students for specialist and consulting positions in the broad field of the built environment in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry.

Recognizing that the architecture profession is constantly changing, the program is designed to fit current industry needs and is adaptable as requirements and expertise evolves. As a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to focus your studies on a specific area of architecture to directly apply your research to your current work or to fit your career path. The MS provides its graduates with an additional credential that enables them to pursue research and entrepreneurial practices, careers in academia or expand the knowledge of the profession. It is expected that students will have previous experience in the technical and professional aspects of building design with a degree in architecture, engineering or other related field. The typical program length is three or four semesters.
