Urban and Regional Planning-M.A.
The goal of the major is to train students to become planning practitioners capable of working in a variety of public, nonprofit, and private sector environments in a number of different fields. We prepare leaders in the field of urban and regional planning to meet community, national and global needs.

Industrial Engineering
Industrial engineering (IE) is a field of study intended for individuals who are interested in formulating mathematical, statistical, and computer simulation models of complex systems in manufacturing, logistics, information, healthcare, transportation, financial, utilities, entertainment, and service. IEs connect big data sets and models to make engineering decisions for improving system performance and developing public policies. Unlike traditional disciplines in engineering, the scope of the industrial engineering field is very broad.

The mission of ISLAC is to promote research and study in and about Latin America and the Caribbean. ISLAC is an academic unit devoted to interdisciplinary research and teaching focused on economic, social, political and cultural formations in Latin America and the Caribbean and among the Hispanic/Latino populations in North America.

The Institute fosters greater knowledge of Latin America and the Caribbean and Latino issues, through partnerships with community organizations and other USF departments to sponsor lectures and cultural events that are open to the public throughout the year. We also support graduate students and faculty research in the area, and provide opportunities for Latin Americanist scholars at USF to collaborate and disseminate their work.

Health Sciences with a concentration in Biological Health Sciences
This Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences is designed for those interested in health science, the health care industry and the allied health professions. The degree has a flexible curriculum so students may choose an area of specialization to suit their career interests. Career choices after graduation include working in health related nonprofit organizations, governmental and community agencies, medical records, patient education, geriatric care settings, diagnostic laboratories, hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry, medical and wellness facilities and businesses. Students graduating with this degree may enter the workforce or continue their education in a variety of fields that might include advanced degree programs in Health Management, Physical or Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, Health Administration, Healthcare Informatics, Communication Disorders and Social Work, to name a few. This degree has greater flexibility and students may have more exposure to social science, business and humanities courses than the more natural science- and mathematics-intensive degrees sometimes required for some health-based professional schools.

The Department offers graduate majors leading to the M.S.M.E. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.  Research opportunities are available in the following areas:  Mechanism Design, Kinematics, System Dynamics and Vibrations, Mechanical Controls, Tribology, Mechanical Design, Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering, Composite Materials, Solid Mechanics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermal Energy Systems, Microelectronic Device Thermal Management, Clean and Renewable Energy Systems, Micro and Nano scale materials and systems, MEMS, Biosensors, Biofluids, Biomedical Engineering, and Engineering Education Cellular Mechanotransduction and Biomaterials, Autonomy, Control, Information, and Systems.

Department facilities include the following laboratories:  Computational Fluid Dynamics, Computational Solid Mechanics, Computer-Aided Design, Dynamic Systems, Hydraulics, Rehabilitation Engineering, Robotics, Biofuel cells and Biomimetics, Nanomaterials and Thin Films, Advanced Materials Processing and Characterization, Biofluids and Biosensors, Microelectronic Thermal Management and Heat Transfer, and Compliant Mechanisms.

The School of Social Work offers a program leading to a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree. The M.S.W. graduate program in social work is a course of study designed to respond to an identified need in the region for skilled clinical social work practitioners. It is built upon a core of information basic to social work practice, followed by an advanced scholarly study in preparation for clinical work with individuals, families, and small groups. An intense field practicum gives students the opportunity to apply theory gained in the classroom to the problems of agency clients.

The major in International Studies enables students to undertake programs of study which emphasize: (a) preparation for careers in international activities, or (b) the study of particular international themes or topics, or (c) the study of particular regions or cultures. Each student develops a course of study designed to fulfill his or her career and educational goals in consultation with the International Studies advisor.

Graphic Arts with Graphic Design Concentration
The Graphic Arts degree offers students a sequence of rigorous courses that balance critical thinking and pragmatic experience, complemented by the enriched experience of the liberal arts environment of the University of South Florida.

Graphic artists develop the images that give voice to the world around us. Using their raw materials - the ability to think, draw, write, speak and design - students learn the skills to solve specific visual problems. The study of typography, design concepts, and digital technology develops an understanding of the tradition, practice, and process of graphic design.

This program guides students in building the imagination, aesthetic sensitivity, and powers of critical thought required to succeed as visual communicators. The curriculum emphasizes expertise in image development, typography, print and screen-based graphics, and interactive design. The program prepares students for the rigor of professional design practice through an internship program, courses in production, and portfolio development. Additionally, students design, organize and promote an exhibition of their final senior project.

The M.A. in Mass Communications is designed for students who are seeking advanced studies in preparation for professional and academic careers in mass communications. The program offers one degree, the Master of Arts in Mass Communications.

The Media Studies Concentration emphasizes the theoretical principles and research methods of mass communications. The Strategic Communication Management Concentration emphasizes public relations management and social science research.
