Master of Science in Learning Design and Technology

The M.A. in Criminal Justice Administration is a specialized and concentrated program of study designed specifically for current or former practitioners within the criminal justice system.  Generally it targets individuals who do not anticipate continuing on to the doctoral studies.  It is a concentrated weekend, cohort-based major leading to the M.A. in five consecutive semesters.  Up to two classes may be offered via the internet.  Classes are held on weekends, meet for one day, and run seven weeks back-to-back. The major is modeled after a typical executive MBA program for working professionals. This is a cohort based model. This major concentrates on issues related to the organization and operation of criminal justice agencies and related organizations.

Geology incorporates the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics to study the earth and the processes that affect our planet.  This degree offers advanced geoscience education and training suitable for joining professional workforce and/or as the foudnatino for pursuing a Ph.D.

Industrial engineering (IE) is a field of study intended for individuals who are interested in formulating mathematical, statistical, and computer simulation models of complex systems in manufacturing, logistics, information, healthcare, transportation, financial, utilities, entertainment, and service. IEs connect big data sets and models to make engineering decisions for improving system performance and developing public policies. Unlike traditional disciplines in engineering, the scope of the industrial engineering field is very broad.

The field of learning technology is growing rapidly in higher education, industry, and k-12 settings. Nearly all major companies, government agencies, school districts, and universities and colleges, are actively recruiting their own learning technology experts. The M.S. in Learning Design and Technology has a foundation in E-learning with focus opportunities. The major is designed to provide a comprehensive curriculum and intensive training to prepare students for the job market of today and emerging fields of tomorrow in K-12 schools, higher education, industry, and military or other governmental agencies where the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of online learning, game-based learning, cybersecurity education, and learning analytics take place.

This master’s program can be done either fully online or in a hybrid (combination face-to-face and online) manner. It will consist of two tracks. The applied track will prepare students for the newly emerging and rapidly changing field of digital journalism, which brings new technologies and evolving value to bear on the report of global news and events. The academic track will prepare students in both emerging digital news and communication technologies while adding an academic dimension for those wishing to continue their studies or pursue a Ph.D. in Mass Communications or other related field.

The B.F.A. program in Studio Art will expose the student to many possibilities in the art-making process. The areas of emphasis in art media are animation, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and video. These options provide access to a comprehensive program of study in art. Students can develop their conceptual and technical skills in a particular art discipline or decide to investigate a specific subject through the use of numerous media and “mixed” forms of art.

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Long Term Care Administration provides students with a basic education in gerontology and allows graduates of the program to sit for the licensure examination to become Nursing Home Administrators. It is especially appropriate for students who intend to begin working immediately following completion of the degree program.

After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression.

Music Studies
The B.A. degree in Music Studies is part of the Provost’s Scholars Program (PSP). This is a program in which qualified students who enter USF directly from high school with 18 or more credits will be offered the opportunity to complete their undergraduate education in 3 years. Each selected student will be provided preferred registration privileges so that critical courses are not closed when they register. They will be given summer scholarships if they need to take summer classes and will be given scholarships to help them participate in study abroad programs. PSP students will live in the Honors College Living/Learning Community year 1. Students will be offered the assistance of faculty or off campus mentors, depending upon career goals and will be encouraged to use the fourth year for graduate study here at USF. Participants will not need to take larger academic loads and can take advantage of all that USF has to offer.

Electrical Engineering
The Electrical Engineering major offers study in all areas fundamental to the analysis, design, and development of electrical devices and systems. ?The areas covered by the major include foundational topics such as circuits and electrical power, to applications such as Internet of Things, Smart Grid, Security,  and Data Analytics. The major offers curriculum tracks that include: Bioelectrical Systems, Communication Systems, Energy, Power and Sustainability, Mechatronics, Robotics and Embedded Systems, Micro and Nano-scale Systems and Wireless Systems. Well-equipped laboratories reinforce fundamental concepts, while providing real world hands-on exposure.

Graphic Arts with Graphic Design Concentration
The Graphic Arts degree offers students a sequence of rigorous courses that balance critical thinking and pragmatic experience, complemented by the enriched experience of the liberal arts environment of the University of South Florida.

Graphic artists develop the images that give voice to the world around us. Using their raw materials - the ability to think, draw, write, speak and design - students learn the skills to solve specific visual problems. The study of typography, design concepts, and digital technology develops an understanding of the tradition, practice, and process of graphic design.

This program guides students in building the imagination, aesthetic sensitivity, and powers of critical thought required to succeed as visual communicators. The curriculum emphasizes expertise in image development, typography, print and screen-based graphics, and interactive design. The program prepares students for the rigor of professional design practice through an internship program, courses in production, and portfolio development. Additionally, students design, organize and promote an exhibition of their final senior project.
