Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Bachelor of Arts in Health Promotion and Wellness Management

Health Promotion is a process of supporting, training and encouraging others in the pursuit of well-being in all dimensions of a person's life, including Social, Physical, Emotional, Occupational, Intellectual, Environmental and Spiritual. Personal health behavior is significant, as individuals are encouraged to adopt and maintain positive lifestyles through a variety of awareness, educational and motivational strategies. The program incorporates the Dimensions of Wellness philosophy as endorsed by the National Wellness Institute.

Students are prepared to facilitate wellness programs that address the overall well-being of individuals and groups. This program also emphasizes the management of health promotion and wellness interventions, preparing students with the administrative and business skills they need to successfully implement HPWM programs.

The Rowan Health Promotion and Wellness Management (HPWM) program is nationally accredited by the National Wellness Institute. It was one of the first programs awarded the Distinguished Undergraduate Program Award  by the National Wellness Institute.

Immerse yourself in art, science, medicine and digital media technology. You will combine exploration, research and investigation with strong visual communication design and technical skills to connect with audiences through the creation of educational narratives and didactic design.

We’ve designed a flexible curriculum, combining access to Rowan’s science and medicine courses and Rowan’s art’s courses in computer imaging, graphic design, information design, photography and sculpture.

Our M.S. in Data Science prepares graduates with a degree in a STEM-related field for a career in data science. The program provides a strong background in data mining, modeling, and statistical and machine learning. In our curriculm, we build on industry needs, as well as guidelines of the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology degree, through the four-field approach of cultural, physical, linguistic, and archaeology, is designed to prepare students to succeed in the 21st century and find employment in research, teaching, development, advocacy, health care among diverse populations, consumer research, community-based organizations, non-profits, and public service. Anthropology Majors will have the option of concentrating their studies in one of four subfield tracks. These are forensic anthropology, museum studies, medical anthropology, and cultural resource management and archaeology. The B.S. degree in Chemistry prepares students for graduate study and for careers in industry, government or medicine. The program provides training in all five areas of chemistry following the recommendations of the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society. After completion of the basic courses there are numerous choices for advanced electives and the degree is capped off with a research experience. Students learn and work in laboratories equipped with modern instrumentation for hands-on use by students at all levels.

Bachelor of Science in Physics

Rowan's Physics major balances general physics courses that develop analytical skills needed for any career direction with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The department also offers coursework in astronomy and astrophysics. Personal attention is a hallmark of the program: enrollment in laboratory-based physics classes is limited to 24 students per section, and all lectures and labs are taught by faculty, not teaching assistants. In our junior-level Research Methods courses, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment as they plan and execute a project under the direction of our research faculty. Physics majors can enter fields such as education, going on to teach at the secondary level, or pursue an advanced degree to become a college profesor and/or conduct research; others may enter fields such as busiess, computers, engineering, finance, law, and medicine.
