Our School of Fisheries, Aquaculture & Aquatic Sciences is the one of the world’s premier warm-water fisheries programs. As a student majoring in fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic sciences, you’ll receive a strong foundation in chemistry, mathematics and biology while learning how to apply these subjects to managing fresh and saltwater aquatic resources.

This degree will equip you with an understanding of the principles used in solving problems with aquatic resources and the awareness to provide safe, reliable food through aquaculture production. Graduates of this program are also prepared for veterinary medicine and other professional and graduate schools.

Major in information systems management, and you will receive education and training that will help you lead organizational change projects by transforming and improving business processes and by designing and creating new, innovative digital products and services.

The non-thesis Master of Science in Materials Engineering provides students an advanced level of knowledge in mechanical properties, materials structure, materials thermodynamics, kinetics and electrical, optical and magnetic properties of materials.

The Department of Physics has a low ratio of faculty members to physics majors which means each student receives individual attention usually only available at much smaller schools. As an undergraduate physics major, you can take courses on sub-atomic particles, the origins of the universe, super-cooled superconductivity, and superheated plasmas.

Physics majors are exposed to faculty performing world-class research in several areas and many undergraduates research physics questions throughout the year. Several features of the AU physics program make it ideal for an undergraduate physics education. Physics majors are the science team leaders in a national effort to send student-built satellites to space.

Historians enjoy reading, are curious about people, and have a desire to use the past as a lens through which to view the present. Our Bachelor of Arts in history equips you with the ability to ask clear questions, to research the information necessary for a well-constructed answer, to write factually and persuasively, and to think historically.

Our English literature major engages your curiosity and imagination and provides you with tools to critically read works from different periods, genres, and authors. You’ll explore literary and cultural texts, primarily in the British and American traditions. You’ll develop the ability to construct arguments from texts, be conversant in the terms of a particular genre and the historical period, and be able to write using a critical approach.

Most people enjoy watching movies and television, but what does it mean to study media and how it makes meaning in our society? Our Bachelor of Arts in media studies offers an in-depth approach to the study of film, television, popular music, and digital media. Our curriculum highlights the cultural and aesthetic importance of media and introduces students to critical methods of media analysis. Through screenings, lively discussions, and a range of written assignments, you'll become adept at interpreting media and understanding their power and significance. Film Genres, Audiences and Fan Cultures, Soundtracks, and Music and Media are just a few of the courses offered in our program.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies program will equip students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to succeed in philanthropic endeavors. In class, students will learn how to build solid personal and organizational financial foundations to support philanthropic projects and lead nonprofit enterprises. Course subjects include: collegiate consuming and giving, nonprofit studies, portfolio development, nonprofit law and governance, and gender, wealth and philanthropy.
