Every day you interact with family, friends, authority figures, and strangers. Sociologists study the circumstances around this human behavior and social interaction, with a particular focus on groups, networks, social institutions, and social change.

Our Bachelor of Arts in sociology gives you an understanding of these social contexts and helps you develop skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, and research. Because our faculty specialize in a wide range of fields, you’ll take courses on organizations, criminal and deviant behavior, social psychological processes, family life, legal institutions, medical systems, human population dynamics, and international development. You’ll have opportunities for internships and hands-on research experience.

Theatre is a rich and diverse field comprised of many valuable skills. Our Bachelor of Arts in theatre allows you to explore theatre as an art form, a profession, and a way of understanding our world. Built on a solid liberal arts foundation, you’ll be able to tailor your elective courses to your interests, whether it’s acting, design, dramaturgy, theory, technology or management.

In every business or organization, the ability to write, think, and communicate clearly is a powerful commodity. Our Bachelor of Arts in English-professional and public writing prepares you to communicate in the world of work. You’ll learn editing and document design practices, linguistic and rhetorical analyses, and writing for specialized audiences. You’ll work with real clients both inside and outside of the university and develop a professional portfolio.

The curriculum leading to this degree allows students to gain comprehensive understanding of the relationships between the structure and properties of materials. Courses offer students a broad foundation in chemistry, physics and mathematics. Within the curriculum are classes and labs covering metals, ceramics, polymers and the design and selection of those materials. Students have the opportunity to explore different fields through a sequence of technical electives in other engineering disciplines. A series of senior capstone project courses allows students to apply materials science principles to open-ended engineering problems.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre performance is an extension of our BA in theatre and offers studio acting, voice, and movement training with professional actors. There are also numerous opportunities to participate in a wide variety of production experiences. You’ll audition for the program in the spring of your sophomore year, and begin this rigorous course of study in the fall of your junior year. You’ll engage in scene study, text analysis, voice, speech, dialects, mask work, makeup, on-camera training, and audition workshops with professional actors and producers.

The Bachelor of Arts in German-international trade is a professional degree that broadens your understanding of society through cultural exchange in German and provides you with communication skills, linguistic dexterity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. Auburn’s Bachelor of Science in Building Construction (BSCI) Program is a four-year ACCE accredited program focused on construction management including specialized training in estimating, scheduling, project management, safety, surveying, sustainable construction, and structures.

The Building Construction Program is unique due to its leading-edge information technology applications emphasis. This combination provides graduates a comprehensive foundation for success. International study opportunities allow students to have exposure to global practices in construction science.

Auburn’s Wildlife Enterprise Management (WLEM) degree is one of only two such programs in the United States.  This cross-disciplinary degree program, founded on the basic principles of wildlife management, hospitality services, and business management, ensures that graduates are prepared for employment at any of thousands of hunting and fishing lodges, ranches, corporate retreat facilities, and other consumptive use facilities worldwide.

The degree is collaboratively taught by world-renowned faculty from the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences and the Colleges of Business and Human Sciences.  With this program, students gain the necessary skill set required of graduates and access to a wide range of internship opportunities across the globe. Emerging global issues, rapidly advancing technologies, and multi-cultural consumer behaviors impact success in the fast-paced, dynamic fashion industry. Career success requires understanding the fashion industry from beginning to end. The department of Consumer and Design Sciences Apparel faculty prepare graduates for a variety of fashion-related careers in the global supply chain. Creativity, innovation, critical thinking, technical competency, and communication effectiveness are valued skill sets. With the integrated core of apparel-related courses, coupled with the focus on the merchandising or design and production management, students will be prepared to work effectively as a team member in a variety of fashion-related settings.

The Apparel Design and Production Management (APDP) Option is structured around a core of courses providing knowledge about raw materials and manufactured products, design and product development, production technology, and marketing concepts. Designers and product developers must be creative, but must also understand that fashion begins and ends with the consumer.

This option is unique because of its strong emphasis on developing an understanding of consumer preferences and identifying market niches, in addition to focusing on product development, design and production management principles. Students learn to manage apparel products from the design concept through retail sales, creating tech packages as part of a team-based Apparel Line Development capstone course. Apparel Design and Production Management students intern with a domestic or international firm; with couture designers or in industry settings. Unique internships in theatrical costuming, or in museums with historical costume or textile collections are also possible.

Accounting is the "language of business." Financial statements drive all major decision-making in an organization. Students in this major not only learn the language of business but are trained in data analytics in preparation for the technology-driven world of professional services. A strong and diverse accounting curriculum encourages success on the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam.
