Students will develop demonstrated capabilities in core chemical engineering topics including material and energy balances, thermodynamics, chemical equilibria, heat, mass and momentum transfer, chemical reaction engineering, continuous and stagewise separation operations, process dynamics, statistics and control. The curriculum ranges from elementary design principles in material and energy balances to the capstone senior process design and process control sequence by employing advanced computer process and control simulators and experimental control systems.

A Bachelor of Arts in French broadens your understanding of society through cultural exchange in French and provides you with communication skills, linguistic dexterity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. These cultural insights and practical tools can help you find your place in today’s competitive, multilingual marketplace.

The Master of Science in Chemical Engineering is oriented toward engineering design and practice. Some of the specialties students will study include surface science, biochemical engineering, catalysis, pulp and paper engineering, environmental engineering, waste conversion, computer-aided process design and simulation, novel bioseparations systems, chemical kinetics, and reactor design.

Our Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. You’ll also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

Biosystems engineers work to ensure our communities have safe and plentiful food to eat, pure water to drink, clean fuel and energy sources, and a safe, healthy environment in which to live. As a student in biosystems engineering, you’ll use principles of engineering and biology to solve problems in biological systems, agriculture, natural resources and the environment.

Auburn offers the only accredited biosystems engineering program in Alabama, and the forest engineering option is the only one of its kind in the South.

• The biosystems engineering major will give you a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry and engineering mechanics that is common to all engineers.

In every business or organization, the ability to write, think, and communicate clearly is a powerful commodity. Our Bachelor of Arts in English-professional and public writing prepares you to communicate in the world of work. You’ll learn editing and document design practices, linguistic and rhetorical analyses, and writing for specialized audiences. You’ll work with real clients both inside and outside of the university and develop a professional portfolio.

The major in agricultural science offers a broad base of knowledge and expertise across a variety of agricultural disciplines. The cross-disciplinary program was developed in response to a growing and more diverse agricultural industry as well as the increased need among related industries for a more broadly skilled workforce.

An agricultural science degree will prepare you for careers in such fields as agribusiness, extension, government agencies, production agriculture and commodity groups. It is also an excellent foundation for graduate studies and an ideal double-major for Auburn agriscience education students.

What you’ll Study
We call agricultural science the big-picture major because it offers a broad overview of 21st-century agriculture. As a student in the program, you’ll take courses that run the gamut from crop science, entomology and landscape gardening to agribusiness marketing, farm equipment repair and aquaculture production.

Theatre is a rich and diverse field comprised of many valuable skills. Our Bachelor of Arts in theatre allows you to explore theatre as an art form, a profession, and a way of understanding our world. Built on a solid liberal arts foundation, you’ll be able to tailor your elective courses to your interests, whether it’s acting, design, dramaturgy, theory, technology or management.

The BS in Chemistry provides a strong background in chemistry while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. It is especially well suited for students leaning towards medical sciences while allowing more flexibility than that allowed in the American Chemical Society-approved biochemistry curriculum. The program allows for great versatility in the junior and senior years, allowing the curriculum to be tailored to individual goals.
