Interior designers create functional and visually appealing indoor environments. They shape, organize, furnish, and adorn the insides of buildings to reflect our personal and cultural aspirations. Today’s interior designers do not simply decorate. They work on wide range of interiors, from residential to corporate projects, designing spaces within new buildings and finding ways to adapt and re-use existing structures. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, then interior design may be for you.

If you want to work behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the camera) in the sport industry, then this is the major for you. Sport administration is designed to teach you the fundamentals behind managing the complex and ever-changing sport industry. You will get real-world experience and may one day become commissioner of the NCAA.

Sport Commerce
The sport commerce concentration teaches sport as a business enterprise. The business aspect of sports has never been more prevalent than it is today and this concentration will give you the tools to succeed.

Learn about nutrition and the research, development, packaging, and distribution of our food supply. At LSU, you will participate in hands-on learning, professional development, and faculty-led research to prepare for a health-related profession or career in business or agriculture.

Nutritional Sciences/Pre-medicine: This concentration will prepare you for a career in the health professions, specifically dietetics or medicine, or in the food industry. Since nutrition plays a role in the prevention and treatment of many chronic and acute diseases, an understanding of the role of nutrients in the body provides pre-medical students with a strong basis for building their medical careers.

Philosophy will allow you to stretch your mind and imagination by examining some of the most difficult problems of human existence. By building analytical skills related to meaning, value, and argumentation, you will be equipped for a surprising range of opportunities in fields such as linguistics, computer science, medical ethics, or law.

Biological Engineering is a diverse field that provides opportunities for students to pursue a wide variety of occupations in industries, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, prosthetics, food processing, environmental consulting, and precision farming. In our degree students are constantly tasked with adapting to new and dynamic situations. Focus areas include biomedical, bioenvironmental, bioprocessing, or biomechanical. Many graduates go on to medical school or graduate school, but others will work in consulting, government agencies, biomedical firms, or even technical sales.

Learn about the properties and composition of matter and the interactions and alterations of substances. Chemistry is at the core of most scientific disciplines, including the study of polymers, biotechnology, pollution control, and energy. There are nine available concentrations, which will allow you to narrow your focus to the career track that works best for you or help you prepare for graduate study. 

Biological Chemistry
This concentration strengthens the student’s knowledge in the chemistry and structure of living systems.

If you’re a natural-born “mathlete,” a degree in mathematics can lead to a career in many exciting areas, including actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and secondary education. You can also pursue a graduate degree or professional degree in fields such as law and business.

Actuarial Science
About two-thirds of all actuaries work for life, health, and property/casualty insurance companies. Actuarial responsibilities in these fields generally include making sure that companies properly define and carefully evaluate the insurance risk, charge a fair price to assume the risk, and have an efficient system to pay claims and expenses as they occur while operating profitably as a business.

At LSU, you will find faculty members who bring history to life every day. The department is one of the nation’s premier locations for studying Southern history. You will also be able to take courses on almost every part of the world and every era.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. Topics include soil science and conservation, ornamentals and grasses, urban landscape management, sustainable horticulture, and much more.

Crop Science: Study food and fiber production with an emphasis on subjects from crop pests to economics.

The Bachelor of Music prepares you for a career as a professional musician or composer. It also serves as the gateway to graduate-level studies in music.
