This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Forest Resource Management: Prepare for the diverse challenges of managing forested landscapes for various sustainable uses. This area of concentration is specifically designed to assist you in becoming a Certified Forester.

Whether you have a passion for being on stage or are more interested in working behind the scenes, the School of Theatre offers you the opportunity to realize your dreams. It’s one of only a handful of programs in the country with an affiliate professional theatre, Swine Palace, which enables you to work alongside leading professionals while earning your degree.

Arts Administration
In this program, you will learn about the daily operations of artistic venues like museums, theatres, and performance houses. Arts administrators can be responsible for anything from budgeting and fundraising to marketing and public relations for arts and cultural organizations.

You will feel right at home as a geography major. Take advantage of the special emphases in Latin American and East Asian geography. Get heavily involved in hands-on research projects and the student-run Geography and Anthropology Society.

Disaster Science & Management
In this concentration you will learn to help communities in crisis establish strategies to plan effectively for mitigation of adverse effects of, response to, and recovery from disasters.

From companion animals to livestock, study all aspects of the animal industries, including production, processing, and nutrition, as well as care of companion animals and preparation for veterinary school. Hands-on learning, faculty-led research opportunities, and real-world experience prepare you for exciting and challenging careers.

Economics is the study of how people choose to use resources. These can include the time and talent people have available; the land, buildings, equipment, and other tools on hand; and the knowledge of how to combine them to create useful products and services. Economics will provide you with analytical skills and a breadth of economic understanding that prepares you for a career in business or government or for further study in economics, law, or public policy.

The child and family studies undergraduate degree at LSU combines elements of psychology and sociology with an applied focus that prepares students for an array of human services professions across the lifespan. • Environment and Development: The concentration in environment and development focuses on the interplay between economic development and natural resources. The goal of this concentration is to help students understand the difficulties and opportunities in the area of sustainable development. Economic activity has environmental effects at all scales from local pollution and resource depletion such as deforestation, to regional impacts from overfishing or excessive use of water resources, and on to global concerns such as climate change.
