Whether it’s discovering a new particle or blasting a rocket into space, physics is at the root of everything. Here you will learn about energy and matter, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, the birth of the universe, and Einstein’s special theory of relativity. Our program will prepare you for graduate school in physics, leading to careers as a college professor, as a scientist at a government agency (like NASA), or in high-tech industry.

Physics and a Second Discipline
This area of focus is for students who wish to combine the study of physics with another subject, either a minor or a double-major, in order to tailor their degree to their interests and career goals.

This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to participate in the environmental community in areas such as federal and local environmental regulations, land use planning, soil and water conservation, coastal restoration, and agricultural management.

Turn your passion into your career. Here, you will be able to take electives from multiple areas of business to craft a degree that suits your specific or varied interests within business. You will gain valuable insight and basic knowledge in key areas of accounting, economics, finance, information systems and decision sciences, management, and marketing as you build a customized curriculum that makes sense for your career goals.

This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to participate in the environmental community in areas such as federal and local environmental regulations, land use planning, soil and water conservation, coastal restoration, and agricultural management.

Resource Conservation: Learn about the chemical, physical, and biological properties of soils, soil and water conservation and associated federal programs, coastal restoration, soil/plant relationships, fundamentals of forestry, wildlife and agricultural management, land use planning soil and water assessment and remediation principles, and ecological risk assessment.

The screen arts program gives you the opportunity to study the history, theory, and practice of film and media, approaching the field as both an industry and an art. With classes ranging from critical analysis to hands-on film production, you will be prepared to enter the growing film industry in Louisiana or to go on for further graduate work in film school and master’s or PhD programs.

One of only 15 U.S. programs recognized by the French government as a Centre d’Excellence, our Department of French Studies can help you develop a command of the language, and introduce you to French-speaking cultures around the world, including Louisiana’s own.

Secondary Education: If you want to teach French, you can do that, too. The available secondary education concentration allows you to pursue certification to teach while you are enjoying the courses you love.

Learn about the properties and composition of matter and the interactions and alterations of substances. Chemistry is at the core of most scientific disciplines, including the study of polymers, biotechnology, pollution control, and energy. There are nine available concentrations, which will allow you to narrow your focus to the career track that works best for you or help you prepare for graduate study. 

Chemistry and Second Discipline
Through this concentration, you can develop your interests and abilities in other disciplines outside of chemistry, whether or not graduate education is contemplated. You may choose a second discipline such as computer science, biological sciences, geology, engineering, business administration, ecology, history, foreign languages, oceanography and coastal sciences, political science, sociology, and others.

The child and family studies undergraduate degree at LSU combines elements of psychology and sociology with an applied focus that prepares students for an array of human services professions across the lifespan. In addition to course work, engaging in hands-on service-learning opportunities and two field internships prepares students to improve the lives of individuals and families.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. Topics include soil science and conservation, ornamentals and grasses, urban landscape management, sustainable horticulture, and much more.
