• Middle East: The concentration in the Middle East focuses on the religion, politics, art, and literature of the Middle East and North Africa. The concentration includes the Arab world, as well as important bordering states such as Turkey and Iran. This is a region with a rich history and tradition which has been a preoccupation of recent United States foreign policy.

You have diverse interests and a desire to affect positive change. You see the world and yourself as a work in progress.

You like to visit art galleries whenever you have a chance to gaze upon the works of great artists.

Art History
Learn about a broad spectrum of artistic expression. The LSU art history program is among the finest and most comprehensive in the South. Our faculty members offer an extensive range of courses in the history of European, American, and Asian art, design, and new media.

Dive headfirst into a whole new world of literature and creation in this major. The English major offers subjects ranging from Beowulf to box office hits. English faculty and students are frequent participants in summer study abroad programs in places like Great Britain and Ireland.

If you’re a natural-born “mathlete,” a degree in mathematics can lead to a career in many exciting areas, including actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and secondary education. You can also pursue a graduate degree or professional degree in fields such as law and business.

Mathematical Statistics
This field of study emphasizes mathematical analysis, probability, and some practical statistics courses to prepare you for graduate school in statistics or a career in practical statistics. Through this program, which was developed in cooperation with the Department of Experimental Statistics, you may obtain a minor in experimental statistics by taking a proper choice of required electives and one additional class.

If you want to work behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the camera) in the sport industry, then this is the major for you. Sport administration is designed to teach you the fundamentals behind managing the complex and ever-changing sport industry. You will get real-world experience and may one day become commissioner of the NCAA.

Sport Leadership
A concentration in sport leadership teaches leadership roles within athletic fields. Whether it’s coaching or motivating others to succeed, this will make you a better leader on and off the field.

This major prepares you to teach music in elementary, middle, and high schools. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that fulfills requirements for students to earn a K-12 Louisiana teaching license upon graduation.

Courses in music theory, music history, conducting, jazz, piano, and technology complement this developing musical artistry forming a foundation that melds with professional education course work in teaching and psychology. In this area of study, you will learn to use critical thinking and effective communication skills to help shape and steer the policies that govern our society. This program also provides a solid foundation if you plan to attend law school.

Learn how raw products move from farm to table, including all of the functions of agricultural business. This major will allow you to focus on management, marketing, finance, and economics, while addressing questions and concerns involving the economics and sociology of agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.

Agribusiness Finance: Develop your knowledge of agriculture finance to pursue a career in rural development or investment practices.
