If you’re a natural-born “mathlete,” a degree in mathematics can lead to a career in many exciting areas, including actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, and secondary education. You can also pursue a graduate degree or professional degree in fields such as law and business.

In this program, you can expect to gain a wide-ranging view of world issues while focusing on a particular geographic region or areas such as global diplomacy. In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

Whether it’s discovering a new particle or blasting a rocket into space, physics is at the root of everything. Here you will learn about energy and matter, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, the birth of the universe, and Einstein’s special theory of relativity. Our program will prepare you for graduate school in physics, leading to careers as a college professor, as a scientist at a government agency (like NASA), or in high-tech industry.

Astronomy
Astronomers challenge the way we look at the universe and our role in it. While the casual observer may think it's all about stargazing, astronomy is heavily rooted in physics and math. As a student, you will take elective courses in stellar and galactic astrophysics and modern optics, and carry out an observational astronomy project at the Highland Road Park Observatory.

In this program, you can expect to gain a wide-ranging view of world issues while focusing on a particular geographic region or areas such as global diplomacy. In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

• Latin America: The concentration in Latin America focuses on the history, folklore, culture, and literature of Latin America and the Caribbean. The close proximity of this region to the United States and our long history of interactions with the area make it a very important area for U.S. foreign policy and for American commercial interests. The stark disparities of economic conditions and environmental endowments across the Americas draw attention to the need for sustainable development.

The screen arts program gives you the opportunity to study the history, theory, and practice of film and media, approaching the field as both an industry and an art. With classes ranging from critical analysis to hands-on film production, you will be prepared to enter the growing film industry in Louisiana or to go on for further graduate work in film school and master’s or PhD programs.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. Topics include soil science and conservation, ornamentals and grasses, urban landscape management, sustainable horticulture, and much more.

Sustainable Production Systems: In this concentration, you will gain a background in applied agronomy and horticulture with a focus on production and economics.

If you want to work behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the camera) in the sport industry, then this is the major for you. Sport administration is designed to teach you the fundamentals behind managing the complex and ever-changing sport industry. You will get real-world experience and may one day become commissioner of the NCAA.

Sport Commerce
The sport commerce concentration teaches sport as a business enterprise. The business aspect of sports has never been more prevalent than it is today and this concentration will give you the tools to succeed.

You will feel right at home as a geography major. Take advantage of the special emphases in Latin American and East Asian geography. Get heavily involved in hands-on research projects and the student-run Geography and Anthropology Society.

The Bachelor of Music prepares you for a career as a professional musician or composer. It also serves as the gateway to graduate-level studies in music.

The Entrepreneurship major is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively establish and turn a profit for a business. It is designed to teach, coach, and inspire students to start a business, be a productive member of an entrepreneurial business, and become an effective manager in a growing business. Through a focus on business management, development, and funding strategies, students can increase their understanding of business practices and startups in this program.
