This major will allow you to focus on management, marketing, finance, and economics, while addressing questions and concerns involving the economics and sociology of agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.

Food Industry Management: With its proximity in South Louisiana to a tradition of fine food from a variety of cultures, LSU is perfectly situated to provide you with the business tools to make the most of this tradition. In this agricultural business concentration, you will learn about processes and technology in the U.S. food industry.

In this program, you can expect to gain a wide-ranging view of world issues while focusing on a particular geographic region or areas such as global diplomacy. In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

• Global Diplomacy: The concentration in global diplomacy focuses on the interactions between nations.  The courses in this concentration focus on economic interactions, military security, and international law/organization.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Conservation Biology: Help conserve rare, uncommon, threatened, or endangered species and learn about habitat manipulations and genetic approaches to enhancing these species.

The major has a low teacher-student ratio, so small classes are guaranteed. Graduates are prepared for employment and post-graduate study. Those choosing post-graduate study are ready for pre-med, pre-law, pre-dental, pre-vet, pre-Masters of Public Health, and pre-disciplinary graduate study. Those entering the workforce have many career options. If you have a demonstrated strength in science, math, complex problem-solving, and enjoy field work, then this is the degree path for you.

Coastal Meteorology: Ideal for anyone interested in pursuing a career in meteorology, especially regarding coastal impacts and weather disturbances.

Establish a solid foundation for your career by focusing on the drivers of marketing, including the trends that cause existing and new markets to develop. You will have the chance to enroll in innovative courses such as “Marketing on the Internet” and “Sports Marketing.” Additionally, the department participates in the International Business Seminars program, allowing students to travel to Europe and learn best business practices from several firms and companies.

Digital Marketing: Students integrate their knowledge of promotions, marketing research, consumer behavior, and statistics with exposure to digital marketing content distribution platforms to equip themselves with the practical knowledge and skillsets necessary to succeed in the growing and in-demand professions of digital and social media marketing.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. The screen arts program gives you the opportunity to study the history, theory, and practice of film and media, approaching the field as both an industry and an art. With classes ranging from critical analysis to hands-on film production, you will be prepared to enter the growing film industry in Louisiana or to go on for further graduate work in film school and master’s or PhD programs.
