Established in 1984 to serve and support Chicago's number one industry, the Manfred Steinfeld undergraduate program is a premier four-year hospitality program in Illinois. Named for Manfred Steinfeld, the program's benefactor and chairman and former CEO of Shelby Williams Industries, the Roosevelt program seeks to produce leaders and innovators in hospitality and tourism management. With Chicago as our campus, the curriculum is implemented by an experienced faculty and staff from the nation's hospitality, event planning and tourism industries. Students include a lively mix of entering freshmen, transfer students and a representative international population.

A major in history is one of the most flexible liberal arts degrees you can obtain. In addition to history, you’ll learn critical reading, writing and thinking skills that prepare you for any position requiring research, writing and analysis. The BFA in Acting is a pre-professional degree program designed to develop a strong foundation in the skills required for a career as an actor on stage, and in film and television. The acting program provides students with intensive training in several techniques including Stanislavski-based work, Viewpoints, period styles, on-camera technique, circus arts, stage combat, and Linklater voice and body technique. Acting majors also receive training in dance and voice lessons as part of their curriculum. Along with opportunities to perform in mainstage and blackbox productions, acting majors also have the opportunity to intern at some of Chicago’s most prestigious theatres including Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Steppenwolf Theater Company and Goodman Theatre, and dozens of smaller Chicago theatres.

The Jazz and Contemporary Music program develops students' improvisation abilities and helps each student realize her or his unique voice as a performer and as an arranger/composer.

The BA in Early Childhood Education (ECHD) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from birth to third grade. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.

• Students gain a solid grasp of the knowledge base of psychology, which includes major concepts, theories, research findings and history of the field.

At Roosevelt economics goes beyond the curriculum that is currently being taught at universities around the world. It presents and challenges students with radically different economic perspectives and alternative schools of thought. Roosevelt is one of the few universities in the United States where students can study economics from green, institutionalist, Post Keynesian, anarchistic, rhetorical, Marxist and other points of view, while gaining technical proficiency in conventional Neoclassical and Keynesian methods. Our faculty are drawn to the study of economics by a commitment to social justice. Economics students are prepared to be socially conscious citizens and leaders in their professions, whether in business, public service, research, teaching or other careers.
