A graduate degree track offered in collaboration between Roosevelt University and the Music Institute of Chicago, the Master of Music Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy is available to qualified violinists, violists, cellists and flutists. The degree combines advanced performance and academic studies with in-depth studies of Suzuki Education and development of teaching skills through observations, practicum and apprentice teaching. Also offered is a Certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy, designed for skilled musicians who already have or are not interested in pursuing a master’s degree, but have a strong interest in teaching as a vocation and commitment to Suzuki Education.

The BA in Early Childhood Education (ECHD) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from birth to third grade. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.

Sociology, like the other social sciences, focuses on human behavior and what it means to be human in constantly evolving social interactions that are part of personal identity, group behavior, and collective action. What distinguishes sociology is its emphasis on social structure as a means of analyzing and interpreting behavior, and the systematic study of the development, structures, institutions, and patterns of social interaction. A degree in sociology provides students with analytical skills, the ability to design research projects, and real insight into the human condition that can lead to successful careers in nonprofit organizations, social services, public services, education, government, sales, marketing, and administrative management. The BA in Sociology also prepares students for graduate study in sociology, as well as law, psychology, social work, and medicine.

Medical technologists perform a variety of tests on blood, tissues and body fluids using the techniques of hematology, microbiology, immunohematology, clinical chemistry and urinalysis. They work in conjunction with pathologists, physicians, or scientists in hospital laboratories. This is a 3+1 program in which the first three years of course work are completed at Roosevelt University with the final year completed at the clinical affiliate site.

Roosevelt's program is the only bachelor's level histotechnology training program in the state of Illinois. The affiliation with Northwestern Memorial Hospital is exclusive and only current RU students are eligible to apply for the clinical training portion of the program.

• Provides business administration and liberal arts students with an understanding of the development and use of accounting records and statements, budgeting funds and cash flow analysis.
• Makes available to non-accounting business administration majors the accounting courses needed to strengthen their fields of specialization.
• Students interested in accounting as a profession will find the courses necessary to prepare them for work as internal or external auditors, cost accountants, staff accountants, comptrollers and public accountants, or for positions in governmental and not-for-profit agencies and institutions.

Nuclear medicine technologists are involved in direct patient care. Nuclear medicine provides unique information about the structure and function of virtually every major organ system within the body. It is the ability to characterize and quantify physiologic function at the molecular level that separates nuclear medicine from other imaging modalities. Nuclear medical technologists work with physicians to administer radioactive nuclides for the diagnosis of disease and to provide therapy. Most nuclear medicine technologists work in hospitals. This is a 3+1 program in which the first three years of course work are completed at Roosevelt University with the final year completed at the clinical affiliate site.

International studies is a growing interdisciplinary field that offers students the opportunity to study politics, economics, history, sociology, anthropology and communication as parts of a complex and evolving global system. Rather than focusing just on relations between states in the international system, the international studies major affords students the opportunity to create a focus on particular geographic areas of the world, the evolution of the international system itself, or on global race, gender and activism.

The MA in Secondary Education (SEED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of adolescents in grades 9 through 12. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families in the subject areas of biology, business, chemistry, English, history, and math. It provides opportunities to earn a combination of Illinois teaching credentials prior to the completion of the MA degree, including the middle school endorsement.
