Students completing the Forensic Science - Chemistry Track B.S. degree will also meet the requirements for ACS certification. This track is designed to allow students the flexibility to prepare for multiple careers in forensics through selection of restricted elective courses. Students should be advised that background checks similar to those required for law enforcement officers are likely to be a condition of employment (Reference: NIJ Report NCJ 203099).

The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Acting is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized performance career in Acting. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of acting. Class work is augmented with practical production experiences. Drawing upon the teachings of Stanislavski-based methodologies, as well as other successful practical acting techniques, the professional acting program offers an organic approach to performance training. The program begins with a focus on the fundamentals of acting: development of imagination, selfawareness, improvisation, voice production/diction and movement. During the first two years, the student also receives training in script analysis, singing and dance. The training then moves to an emphasis on characterization, character development and studio training/scene study. This practical study, drawn from the total range of dramatic literature, provides the student with performance experiences ranging from the classical to the contemporary, including verse and musical theatre. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. While most students choose to enter the work force following graduation, the BFA is an excellent degree for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in theatre. Work within the BFA program requires energy and dedication; therefore, other part-time study or outside employment is very challenging. BFA standards are high, both for admission and for continuation in the program.

The School of Public Administration provides the highest quality undergraduate education for students interested in working in the nonprofit sector. The school strives to achieve local, state and national prominence through contemporary curriculum, innovative instruction, scholarly and applied research, and community service. Programs and services develop and enhance management skills essential to public and nonprofit organizations. The school offers an undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nonprofit Management. The program provides opportunities for students to prepare for employment as nonprofit professionals and produces graduates with the management skills and analytical techniques needed for successful careers in nonprofit and related business fields.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts track in Musical Theatre is offered for students who, upon graduation, plan to pursue a specialized performance career on the musical theatre stage. It provides the student with a thorough foundation in theatre complemented by very structured and intensive career preparation in all areas of musical theatre. The Musical Theatre B.F.A. program offers a sequence of courses in acting, movement, voice, dance, music theory, and piano. Classwork is augmented with practical production experiences. Drawing upon a variety of acting, dance, and voice methodologies, the professional musical theatre performance program offers an organic approach to musical theatre performance training. The first two years focus on the fundamentals of music theory, piano, acting, ballet, jazz, and musical theatre voice, with an emphasis on the development of artist's instrument. During the junior and senior years, emphasis is placed on studio training, musical theatre scene study, and musical theatre repertoire. The program culminates with a professional internship where students are able to apply their education in a real world work environment. While most students choose to enter the work force following graduation, the BFA is an excellent degree for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in theatre. The B.A. in Film offers courses in film theory, history and criticism. The aim of the program is to give students a broad and in-depth knowledge of these areas. The emphasis is on the aesthetics, styles and forms of film. The first two years of the program provide students with a general background and introduction. In the second two years, the program concentrates on the analysis of specific film practices such as editing, color, sound, staging, cinematography, narrative form and theoretical and historical perspectives.

In the advanced courses, student learning will be verbal and visual, written and practical. Students are expected to have access to a digital video camera and an editing suite. Courses are sequenced and coordinated over the period of the degree enabling students to build on their learning in a progressive and coherent manner. An Honors Dissertation is an option in the final year.

Students of Film have the advantage of stimulus and interaction with faculty and students in other disciplines and the opportunity to take elective courses in these areas. The emphasis on film form and the integration of theoretical/historical and practical studies in the UCF program makes it unique and innovative.

Placement in language courses is based on one year of high school language being equivalent to one semester of college work. For example, four years of high school Spanish place the student in the first semester of the third year. Native Spanish speakers, near-native Spanish speakers, or students who have received advanced education abroad must substitute select classes.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film emphasizes authorship in Film Production to empower our graduates for lifelong success in a variety of filmmaking and screenwriting modalities. Working with a diverse faculty in an intensive tutorial environment, students author original works, collaborate with a creative team, and develop their personal voice. Graduates will leave equipped with a broad array of skills to compete in the film industry or continue their studies in graduate school.

The Film BFA is a limited-access, 4-year degree program that shares a cinema studies and production core with the Film B.A. program. After completing foundational requirements as Film B.A. majors, students can choose to apply for entry into the BFA via a portfolio review in their second year. Once accepted, students can design a plan of study for different modalities in narrative, documentary, and experimental filmmaking as well as screenwriting.

As part of their Capstone experience, Film BFA students organize a curated exhibition of creative works from the Film B.A. and Film BFA degree programs. They also learn about the professional practice to help better prepare themselves for life after film school, navigating a career in industry and the arts.

As an English major at UCF, explore the power of language. You’ll have the opportunity to align your studies with your personal and professional goals. Choose from three tracks, including creative writing, literature and technical communication. After graduation, pursue a career in fields such as law, editing and publishing, teaching, corporate and not-for-profit management, consulting and information technology. This degree also prepares you to continue your studies in graduate school, whether you choose to continue English or another discipline.

Technical Communication
Meet the communication needs of the business and scientific community. You’ll learn how to apply the principles of written, spoken and visual communication to a wide variety of situations, using state-of-the-art software and hardware in the departmental Technical Writing Laboratory.
