The BFA degree prepares students for professional practices and is recommended for students who plan to attend graduate school. The BFA degree provides a solid foundation in techniques and theory in focused areas of competence. The School affirms that a theoretical and working understanding of the historical meanings and studio applications of the human image are critical in the education of Visual Art and Art History students.

Restaurant & Foodservice Management (BS) may be completed fully online, although not all elective options or program prerequisites may be offered online. Newly admitted students choosing to complete this program exclusively via UCF online classes may enroll with a reduction in campus-based fees. The Lodging Track is designed to complement the B.S. in Hospitality Management, and aligns with students’ elective credits without requiring incremental credit hours.

The Lodging Management track gives students a competitive advantage when applying for jobs and building a career by developing “professional worth”. The 7 specialized courses are created and taught by UCF Rosen College faculty with numerous years of industry experience, who bring real-world context to the curriculum, including direct engagement with lodging industry executives. The key learnings and exposure to lodging-specific content will better prepare students for a career in lodging and lodging-related fields.

The lodging industry is vast and global, with the potential for significant career growth and salary gains over time.  Career options include:  Hotel General Management, Revenue Management, Lodging Sales, Real Estate Management, Convention Service Management, Technology Management, Hotel Design, Marketing, Human Resources Management, Hotel Brand Development both domestic and international, Resort Time Share Management, Risk Management, and many others.

The BS in Teacher Education program at UCF prepares you to effectively teach art, physical education or world language subjects at the elementary (K-5), middle (6-8) and high school (9-12) grade levels. Using current technologies in the classroom, you’ll gain first-hand experience in developing pedagogy and content knowledge to meet the needs of students and learn how to teach learners with varying abilities.

Throughout your time at UCF, you’ll have many opportunities to engage in additional professional development workshops as well as participate in an annual student showcase. The KnightED Talks workshops, offered throughout the fall and spring semesters, provide you with regular professional learning on topics of relevance to the teaching profession. The KnightED Talks Student Showcase is a forum where you can share your best work with peers. This professional development opportunity enhances both your scholarship and presentational skills.

The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering program helps you gain an understanding of core concepts such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity. You’ll pair these core principles with tools like computer-aided design software to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, cars, aircraft, robotics, medical devices and much more.

The mechanical engineering department boasts esteemed international faculty and a dedicated staff who ensure that you gain the skills needed to achieve your personal and professional goals. Throughout your coursework, you’ll get hands-on experience in applying the principles of engineering, science and mathematics to model, analyze, design and realize physical systems, components and processes. Plus, be sure to take advantage of the professional networking and internship opportunities with the university’s partners — many of whom are industry leaders across Florida.

The study of human communication allows students to develop critical thinking skills, an understanding of cultural and gender-related differences in how people communicate, and it sharpens their marketable skills such as writing, public speaking and persuasion.

Students with a B.A. in human communication pursue jobs in a wide range of industries including management, sales, human resources, higher education (admissions and student services), marketing and training. Many students also continue their education in graduate school, law school and business or professional graduate degree programs.

Students must choose one track from the following: General Human Communication, Business and Professional Communication, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, or Social Innovation and Activism.

The journalism B.A. provides students with the skills and knowledge leading to careers in electronic and digital media. It is a limited-access degree program, which means a separate application must be submitted directly to the Nicholson School of Communication in order to be considered for admission.

For students who wish to work as writers, reporters, editors and photographers for the news media, primarily websites, newspapers and magazines.

RF and Microwaves Track
In this track, you’ll have the opportunity to take technical elective courses covering a wide range of topics in applied electromagnetics such as antennas, computational electromagnetics, high-speed circuits and systems, bioelectromagnetics, radar, remote sensing and wireless sensors.
