Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Restaurant and Foodservice Management

The Zoology and Pre-veterinary Track is designed for students seeking entrance into a veterinary medical program or graduate school in an animal biology related field.  In addition to core Biology courses in Genetics and Evolutionary Biology, this track emphasizes courses in Physiology, Animal Behavior and Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy.  Additional courses in Mammalogy, Ornithology, Herpetology and Ichthyology will broaden the student’s experience.  Moreover, electives such as Vertebrate Evolution and Ecology, and Zoo & Aquarium Management as well as lab courses in Anatomy, and Embryology/Development will prepare students to succeed in veterinary school or any graduate program in animal biology.  Students can also acquire hands-on experience and earn independent study credit through established connections with organizations such as the Central Florida Zoo, Back To Nature, and the Birds of Prey Center of Maitland.

The Pre- Health Professional Biology Track is designed for students seeking entrance into professional health programs including medicine (MD or DO), veterinary medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy.  Students in this track will also be well prepared if they decide to apply to graduate school.  In addition to core Biology courses in Genetics and Molecular & Cellular Biology, this track emphasizes courses in development, physiology, and anatomy.  Moreover, electives like Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Evolution & Medicine as well as lab courses in Anatomy, Genetics and Genomics will give students the background needed to excel in professional school entrance exams (e.g. the MCAT) as well as courses offered in those professional schools.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing and Rhetoric provides students with in-depth training in the interrelated fields of writing, rhetoric, and literacy studies, preparing them for a range of writing-focused jobs that involve the analysis, creation, editing, adaptation, and/or coordination of written, digital, and multimedia texts.

The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies – Diversity Studies Track is a broadly based interdisciplinary curriculum. The degree's interdisciplinary nature provides students with tools that can be applied across a spectrum of science, social behavior, and humanities, while foregrounding the importance of analyses with a focus on diversity and inclusion in such categories as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and ability. Students pursuing a career in social justice or advocacy work, involvement in international nonprofit organizations or diverse research and journalistic careers, as well as those seeking preparation for graduate study in related areas will enjoy the flexibility of this program. This track requires students to take two unique IDS Core courses, 30 credit hours of courses related to theory and representations/experiences of diversity, and select from a number of related minors such as the Women's and Gender Studies or Diversity and Social Inequality.

As an English major at UCF, explore the power of language. Your coursework will cover critical thought, expression through writing, and knowledge of cultural and literary trends from a number of different perspectives. These perspectives include scholarship, creating original texts, and communication about and through technology.

You’ll have the opportunity to align your studies with your personal and professional goals. Choose from three tracks, including creative writing, literature and technical communication. After graduation, pursue a career in fields such as law, editing and publishing, teaching, corporate and not-for-profit management, consulting and information technology. This degree also prepares you to continue your studies in graduate school, whether you choose to continue English or another discipline.

Literature Track
Develop the ability to read discerningly, think critically and write clearly. This track encompasses the study of literature in its historical, cultural and theoretical contexts. You’ll learn about the ways of people and society, as well as develop a lifelong pleasure to be found in this art form.

The study of human communication allows students to develop critical thinking skills, an understanding of cultural and gender-related differences in how people communicate, and it sharpens their marketable skills such as writing, public speaking and persuasion.

Students with a B.A. in human communication pursue jobs in a wide range of industries including management, sales, human resources, higher education (admissions and student services), marketing and training. Many students also continue their education in graduate school, law school and business or professional graduate degree programs.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences is designed for students with an interest in human health who plan to pursue health-focused careers. The Health Promotion track provides students with a solid educational background in basic and health-related sciences, while providing the foundation courses required for admission to graduate level clinical and non-clinical health programs including but not limited to physical therapy, occupational therapy, public health, clinical/behavioral health and other health-related professions.

The BA in Criminal Justice program at UCF is uniquely designed to provide you with a broad understanding of crime and society’s control mechanisms, as well as to prepare you for a professional career in criminal justice and related professions. You’ll learn how to take a broad yet specialized degree and apply it to the operations of criminal justice professions, such as law enforcement, courts, corrections, advocacy (domestic violence, human trafficking, elderly abuse), juvenile justice and cybersecurity. Along the way, mix your academic experience with practical application through internships, study abroad and experiential learning.

Restaurant & Foodservice Management (BS) may be completed fully online, although not all elective options or program prerequisites may be offered online. The General Biology Track is the most general of the Biology Tracks and only has the core Biology courses as required courses.  The remaining 22 hours are chosen from any of the upper division restricted electives, with a requirement that students take at least two lab courses and one class that focuses on plants and a second class that focuses on animals.  This track is appropriate for all professions that require a major in biology and will prepare students for post-graduate education in professional or graduate school. Moreover, the classroom and laboratory courses will prepare students directly for the workforce in jobs associated with government field offices (such as Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission or Florida Department of Environmental Protection) or industry as a laboratory technician.  If you are unsure what you want to do with your major and/or want to choose from the variety of upper division electives that are part of the Biology curriculum, then staying in the General Biology Track may be appropriate for you.
