Recent graduates are employed as scientists in academia, industry and government, or pursuing postgraduate education. In addition to our rigourous academic program, students can work side-by-side with faculty on research projects such as discovering novel inhibitors of bacterial efflux pumps as a way to combat multi-drug resistance in bacteria, studying biodegradation of polymer coatings, and discovering new photodynamic lung cancer treatments.

Owing to the fact that UD conducts about $18 million in bioscience and bioengineering research, you’ll have many chances to get hands-on with your degree. Opportunities include university biochemical, biomechanical, biomaterials and bioenergy labs.

Specialized tracks available to UD bioengineering graduate students include:

As a chemical engineering major, you will apply the principles of multidisciplinary sciences, problem solving, economics, and human relations to develop new products and processes, as well as design, build, and supervise facilities that convert raw materials into products and services for the common good.

Our chemical engineering program will provide you with fundamental science and engineering skills, applied engineering knowledge, and extensive experiential laboratory learning which culminate in a real-world design capstone. UD successfully integrates these core technical competencies with a balanced general education, opportunities for industrial or research involvement, and an overarching community environment, to create a unique, well-rounded educational experience that will prepare you for later success in the workforce, graduate school, or professional school.

Our students are immersed in a challenging academic experience that combines theory and practice. You begin in the classroom learning the foundations of biology, but quickly find yourself discovering antibiotic-producing bacteria, wading through wetlands, exploring behavioral neuroscience, analyzing real-time physiological data collected on classmates, or studying patterns of evolution in fruit flies.

Students have the opportunity to create their own program of study. If you have a specific project in mind or want to study a combination of writing and literature, you can work closely with an adviser to plan a track toward your UD degree.

People have been exploring ideas and expressing their thoughts and feelings by producing art throughout history. By studying art history, you will learn how art embodies and controls cultural, economic, gender, political, religious and social dynamics.

We foster the understanding of language and literature from rhetorical, creative, critical, historical, comparative and global perspectives. With our diverse array of tracks, coupled with our faculty's broad range of expertise, our students can learn anything from British literature, linguistics, grant writing or creative writing.

Environmental geosciences tackle society’s most important environmental problems – climate change, energy resources, pollution and hazards – through a detailed and integrated study of major components of the Earth system: atmosphere, hydrosphere and the solid Earth.

UD has one of the top five MS in Electro-Optics programs in the U.S. As a graduate student, you’ll work with award-winning faculty, and you can expect hands-on training and a significant choice of electives to customize your education.
