The University of Kansas offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Design with a major area of study in Photography, a program dedicated to evaluating and innovating the practice of photography and related media. We provide in-depth instruction in a range of analog and digital, still and moving, lens-based techniques within a rigorous intellectual and creative environment. In the broadest sense, political science is the study of governments and governmental procedures. Political science is as old as civilization, because people always have been interested in their government and in their leaders. But political science as it is thought of today, as one of the social sciences, is a comparatively new discipline. It developed in the United States during the last century as political scientists developed an ability to make increasingly scientific observations of government. Political scientists are concerned with the origins and sources of governmental organizations, their growth, and their decline, as well as with the processes and structure of government.

The B.A. in Music degree is a general music degree intended for students desiring a broad study of music with the flexibility to take elective coursework in other disciplines. This degree program includes private applied study in an instrument or voice, ensemble performance, and coursework in music history and music theory.

The focus of the BS program in Aerospace Engineering is the design of aerospace vehicles and components. This is accomplished in a four year academic program that consists in the first year of basic sciences, mathematics, and communication courses. These courses form the key foundation for the rest of the program. Also, you will take an Introduction to Aerospace Engineering course that will give you an overview of the BS program. In the second year you will continue to take basic mathematics and science as well as engineering science courses. The engineering science courses apply the principles you have mastered in the basic sciences and mathematics to the solution of engineering problems. In the third year you learn the unique nature of aerospace problems. These courses cover the major subdivisions of Aerospace Engineering - fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, and flight dynamics. You will also have courses in complementary topics including computer graphics and instrumentation. Inyour fourth year, you have the opportunity to see how all the individual specialized technologies are used to design a vehicle.

Biochemistry focuses on the structure and function of biomolecules—proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids—and encompasses all the chemical processes of organisms.  The B.A. Biochemistry major includes one year of biochemistry, including laboratories, as well as upper-division courses in gene expression and biological physical chemistry.

Russian is spoken by upwards of 170 million people in Russia, a country that covers one eighth of the world's landmass and that spans eleven time zones across Europe and Asia. Russian is also widely spoken as a second language throughout Eastern Europe and Central Asia, making it the fourth most widely spoken language in the world, and thus one of only six official languages of the United Nations. It is the language of some of the world's greatest scientists (including Mendeleev, creator of the periodic table of elements), musicians (including Tchaikovsky, composer of Swan Lake, The Nutcracker and The 1812 Overture), and writers (including Tolstoy, author of War and Peace, and Dostoevsky, author of Crime and Punishment). Study of Russian opens up a myriad of career opportunities in fields ranging from business to diplomacy to environmental studies to technology and cultural exchange.
