Management major prepares students for specific management responsibilities and results in a bachelor of science degree from the College of Management (CM) at UMass Boston. The learning goals for the bachelor of science in management (BSM) program are for students to:

The finance concentration offers courses in corporate finance, investment and portfolio management, financial institutions and markets, and financial policy. As part of the Department of Performing Arts, the Theatre Arts Program explores diverse forms including the classics, contemporary drama, comedy, film, and musical theatre. Studies include training in acting; scenic, costume, and lighting design; directing; theatre history; and playwriting. The Theatre Arts major is for active participants who are ready to apply theory to practice via live performance, production work, undergraduate research, and theatre conferences.

Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UMass Boston is an interdisciplinary field of study offering both a major (30 credits) and a minor (18 credits). The department includes introductory and intermediate courses, designed for all students who have a general interest in understanding how gender shapes our experiences, institutions, and social realities. More specialized upper-level courses primarily serve minors and majors. In addition to department (WGS) courses, we also offer an array of approved courses taught in other departments and programs (Art, English, Philosophy, Sociology, etc.). Many Women’s and Gender Studies courses fulfill general education requirements.

The biochemistry major at the University of Massachusetts Boston is jointly administered by the departments of biology and chemistry.

The curriculum generally follows the recommendations of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). This is a rigorous and well-rounded program of study designed to accommodate the needs of a broad spectrum of students seeking a terminal or non-terminal bachelor of science degree in biochemistry.

Students completing a degree in biochemistry will:

• Learn the fundamentals of chemistry and biology with emphasis on organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, genetics and cell and molecular biology.
• Gain a deep appreciation of the theory and laboratory practices in modern biochemistry and a solid understanding of the interaction among metabolic pathways from a systems biology perspective.
