The Master of Music is an advanced professional degree designed to develop a particular area in music to a high level of specialization. The university offers the M.M. with the following emphases:

Emphasis - Musicology
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in musicology is an advanced professional degree designed to give the student a broad research background while also providing a 24-credit specialization. A reading knowledge of one foreign language and a thesis are required.

The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

Emphasis - Civil Engineering
A degree of M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in civil engineering prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work. The program offers a choice of several concentration areas: structures, geotechnical engineering, construction materials, water resource engineering, environmental engineering, transportation systems, infrastructure asset management, and earthquake and disaster response management.

There are three degrees in economics at the University of Mississippi: the Bachelor of Business Administration in economics, the Bachelor of Arts in economics, and the more technical Bachelor of Science in economics. The B.A. degree is the most flexible program that provides broad social science training. Students take introductory and advanced micro and macro economics, statistics, and then pursue their own interests with economics electives.

Economics provides a broad and systematic way of thinking about social, financial, and business problems. The B.A. in economics prepares a graduate for many positions in business and government. Some positions are economic analyst, statistician, and research assistant.

Emphasis - Ethnomusicology
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in ethnomusicology is an advanced professional degree designed to give the student a broad research background while also providing a 24-credit specialization. A thesis is required.

The B.A. in psychology prepares students for careers in which a fuller understanding of human behavior is needed or to enter graduate programs in psychology and professional schools such as law and medicine. Students learn the scientific approach to the study of human and animal behavior, and can take courses in a variety of subfields, such as social, cognitive, personality, abnormal, developmental, and behavioral neuroscience. Students also learn the research process: experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Psychology majors at the University of Mississippi learn the scientific approach to the study of human and animal behavior, and can take courses in a variety of subfields, such as social, cognitive, personality, abnormal, developmental, and behavioral neuroscience. The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. Students in this program are given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and the latest relevant technologies. The program includes five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, one taxation elective, and one accountancy elective.

The B.B.A. in Economics is for students who wish to enter the corporate world directly upon graduation. Students use mathematical and statistical models to analyze issues such as tax structure, deregulation, public welfare spending, mergers, acquisitions, and employee compensation programs.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, you will be ready to enter the corporate world or government right after graduation. Not only will you emerge with an understanding of the field itself, you’ll gain skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.
