The B.S. in chemistry provides a rigorous foundation in the principal areas of basic chemistry. This program is designed for students who intend to pursue advanced studies leading to the M.S. or Ph.D. degrees in the chemical or biochemical sciences, or who wish to obtain employment as entry-level professional chemists in industrial or government laboratories.

The Master of Accountancy & Data Analytics program offers specialization in data analytics paired with broad graduate-level accounting education. In this program, students are prepared for careers in the data age as they gain hands-on experience in data analytics and cutting-edge technologies. The program requires five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, and two accountancy electives.

The Department of Modern Languages offers the M.A. in modern languages with emphases in French, German, linguistics, Spanish, and teaching English as a second language (TESOL).

Specialization - German
An M.A. in Modern Languages with a specialization in German gives graduates a high proficiency in communicative skills and a deep awareness of cultures in the German-speaking world. Emphasis - Environmental Engineering
A M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in environmental engineering prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work. Students can concentrate in any of the following specialty areas: water resources, watershed systems, hydrology, surface water quality, stormwater, wastewater, solid waste, air pollution, groundwater modeling and remediation, and remote sensing and geospatial technologies. Students entering the program come from a variety of engineering and nonengineering disciplines, such as geology, chemistry, biology, and mathematics.

Students may earn a degree in economics at the University of Mississippi three different ways: the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in economics, the Bachelor of Arts in economics, and the new, more technical Bachelor of Science in economics. The quantitative B.S. degree is more suitable for those who wish to prepare for graduate study in economics. Students take advanced mathematics, introductory and advanced micro and macro economics, econometrics, and mathematical economics.

African American Studies majors at the University of Mississippi select the following areas of specialization: culture, history, or political & social institutions. You can tailor your exploration of the African and African American experience by choosing from among 60 courses in different disciplines, including anthropology, art history, English, gender studies, history, music, political science, religion, and sociology.

The B.A. degree in physics is suggested for students wishing to teach physics in high school or to enter graduate or professional schools, such as medical school or law school. The department also offers a special B.A. curriculum for pre-medical students, which includes physics courses that are especially useful for medical students. It is recommended that students interested in teaching high school physics obtain a B.A. physics degree and a secondary education certification.
