Curricula of the School of Business Administration are designed both for those who plan to operate their own businesses and for those who plan to occupy responsible positions in business organizations. This unique program is designed to educate students as information system professionals. Students are provided with knowledge involving information systems technology, information concepts and processes, and organizational functions and management.

In our MIS program, you will gain the skills to create desktop and mobile applications, web pages, and databases with state-of-the-art technology. Our alumni work for industry-leading companies such as FedEx, Microsoft, and Yahoo!

What Will You Learn?

Our students will learn to write the code and master the software that businesses need to succeed. You will delve into Visual Basic and C# using Visual Studio, in addition to UML, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.

The Risk Management and Insurance major prepares students for exciting careers in an industry that has a high demand for talent. Students at Ole Miss gain marketable skills regarding the assessment and management of risk.

What will you learn?
Risk impacts individuals, businesses, and governments across the entire world. Without risk there is no reward. The RMI curriculum focuses on commercial risk management and culminates in a capstone course where you will perform a comprehensive risk management audit of a company, write a detailed report of risk control and transfer recommendations, and present your solutions to a panel of experts. You will also find out where you fit best in the industry by working as an intern - most students earn 6 hours of academic credit for working paid summer internships. Student internships include duties ranging from designing social media strategies for insurance brokers to underwriting insurance policies.

Students may earn a degree in economics at the University of Mississippi three different ways: the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in economics, the Bachelor of Arts in economics, and the new, more technical Bachelor of Science in economics. The quantitative B.S. degree is more suitable for those who wish to prepare for graduate study in economics. Students take advanced mathematics, introductory and advanced micro and macro economics, econometrics, and mathematical economics.

In the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program at Ole Miss, students learn to understand, design, and develop devices and systems that operate on electric/battery power, or that generate electric power.

Electrical engineers use the physics and mathematics of electricity, electromagnetism and electronics to create, develop and test electrical equipment and systems.

With an electrical engineering degree, you will be set for a career in areas as diverse as the automotive, chemical and petroleum industries; power utilities; defense and aeronautics; and telecommunications and computers.

The M.B.A. exposes students to a variety of subjects, including statistics, economics, organizational behavior, business communication, marketing, financial strategy, operations management, and information technology management.

The Bachelor of Music curriculum prepares students to become professional musicians or vocalists, to teach music at the K-12 levels, or for graduate or professional school. Students select a concentration in instrumental, keyboard, or vocal training.

The B.M. in music is offered for students seeking a university education that includes preparation for careers in music teaching or performance. The B.M. degree is available in the following emphases: music performance and music education.

Ole Miss banking and finance majors receive experiences in regulatory and compliance issues, risk management, financial decision-making, lending, global banking, bank performance, non-bank competitors, financial mathematics, and legal related guidelines.

The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. Students in this program are given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and the latest relevant technologies. The program includes five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, one taxation elective, and one accountancy elective.

Students who complete the program in hospitality management choose among many of the job settings in the growing hospitality industry, such as restaurants and food-service operations, hotels and other lodging facilities, event companies, resorts, casinos, entertainment centers, convention centers, travel firms, and visitor bureaus.

Accounting is known as the language of business and provides an academic foundation that is highly valuable for public accounting, managerial accounting, financial management and investing, as well as business fields in general.

The primary function of the accountancy program is to provide professional education required to prepare students for careers as professional accountants in financial institutions, government, industry, nonprofit organizations, and public practice. Emphasis is placed upon both theoretical principles and concepts and practical applications to fulfill the need for reliable financial information. Professional courses provide students with the accounting education required to commence and continue to develop in a wide range of professional accounting careers.
