The Department of Modern Languages offers the M.A. in modern languages with emphases in French, German, linguistics, Spanish, and teaching English as a second language (TESOL).

Specialization - German
An M.A. in Modern Languages with a specialization in German gives graduates a high proficiency in communicative skills and a deep awareness of cultures in the German-speaking world. The degree prepares students for a teaching career at a variety of levels as well as doctoral work in the discipline.

The Master of Taxation & Data Analytics program offers specialization in both taxation and data analytics. Students in this program are given many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and the latest relevant technologies. The program includes five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, one taxation elective, and one accountancy elective.

The M.A. in Southern studies is an intense, interdisciplinary course of study touching on all facets of Southern life, history, and culture. The program is the only one of its kind in the country, and students can study an array of Southern topics and issues, from Faulkner to the blues, from the Civil War to the civil rights movement, from folk art to fundamentalism.

The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

Emphasis - Chemical Engineering
A degree of M.S. in engineering science with an emphasis in chemical engineering prepares graduates to apply chemical engineering science (transport phenomena, thermodynamics, chemical reaction engineering, and applied mathematics. It enables them to independently execute complex projects and pursue successful careers in engineering, medicine, law, professional education, public policy, the military, management, and sales.

The Master of Accountancy & Data Analytics program offers specialization in data analytics paired with broad graduate-level accounting education. In this program, students are prepared for careers in the data age as they gain hands-on experience in data analytics and cutting-edge technologies. The program requires five accountancy and taxation courses, three data analytics courses, and two accountancy electives.

The M.S.W. is a professional degree that prepares students to work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities in clinical settings. Students pursue either a regular track or advanced standing track, depending on their education.

The Risk Management and Insurance major prepares students for exciting careers in an industry that has a high demand for talent. Students at Ole Miss gain marketable skills regarding the assessment and management of risk.

What will you learn?
Risk impacts individuals, businesses, and governments across the entire world. Without risk there is no reward. The RMI curriculum focuses on commercial risk management and culminates in a capstone course where you will perform a comprehensive risk management audit of a company, write a detailed report of risk control and transfer recommendations, and present your solutions to a panel of experts. You will also find out where you fit best in the industry by working as an intern - most students earn 6 hours of academic credit for working paid summer internships. Student internships include duties ranging from designing social media strategies for insurance brokers to underwriting insurance policies.

The B.S. degree in physics is recommended for students wishing to go to graduate school in physics. It also prepares a student for teaching physics, for graduate or professional schools, such as law school or education school, and for jobs in technical fields. Students interested in teaching high school physics may need a secondary education certification along with the degree.
