Every retailing major graduates with at least two career-related work experiences on their resume. The college provides dedicated internship directors, experienced faculty members and a corporate engagement office to help students get the most out of opportunities to work with companies like Under Armour, Ralph Lauren, Belk, Amazon, Target and Zappos. Our alumni work all around the world in every sector of retail, in big-name companies and businesses they started from scratch.

Students have the option to earn their master's degree in hospitality and tourism management on campus or via distance learning and at their own pace. Synchronous distance delivery using Adobe Connect provides remote students with an engaging, interactive classroom experience where they learn in real time with on-campus classmates and professors. Additional asynchronous course options give students the flexibility to complete courses online and at their convenience. 

Our criminal justice program promotes state-of-the-art research and instruction in subject areas that are crucial to the effective and orderly working of modern society.

You will learn theories of and responses to social deviance, law and the legal system, administration theory and evaluation, law enforcement, juvenile justice systems and procedures, and crime prevention models. You will also be able to attend numerous conferences and lectures to broaden your professional perspective.

As a criminal justice major, you will also have the opportunity to participate in a hands-on internship experience that will add to your educational experience. You can gain additional experience by participating in the Campus Patrol Office program, which offers students who qualify an opportunity to gain hands-on experience as an employee of the University of South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement and Safety. Our aerospace engineering program provides a strong foundation in engineering science and engineering design as applied to aerospace materials and structures, including their mechanical and aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors. In addition to taking engineering courses, you will work in project groups, acquiring social skills to work in multi-disciplinary environments and learning how to present your work effectively. Through the design and lab work, you’ll gain hands-on, real life experience that will shape you into responsible and innovative aerospace engineers.

Marketing is the function in business and nonbusiness organizations that is responsible for developing, pricing, distributing and promoting products, services and ideas.

Marketing majors in the Darla Moore School of Business will benefit from studying in a department that is widely acclaimed for its scholarly expertise in a variety of areas including consumer psychology, marketing strategy, research methods, behavioral pricing and marketing communications.

A department in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry focuses on training professional chemists and providing a base degree for advanced study in medicine, pharmacy and other professional schools. Our electrical engineering graduate program is nationally recognized in areas like communication and electromagnetics, decision and control, electronic materials and devices, and power and energy systems. As an electrical engineering graduate student, you can work in outstanding labs and facilities at UofSC.

A graduate degree in electrical engineering can improve your career by equipping you to work on advanced projects or enabling you to transition to a new career in research or teaching.  Electrical Engineering at UofSC has advanced facilities, labs, computing and simulation infrastructure to allow students to carry out research activities.

We offer paid research assistantships and tuition for full-time Ph.D. students. Prospective students may also apply and receive national or international fellowships like the NSF Graduate Fellowship, National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, or fellowships from international entities and governments to support their Ph.D. program of study. M.S. students may also apply and receive very limited teaching assistantships or research assistantships, depending on the availability of funds. M.E. students are normally self-supported or supported by their governments, employers, or sponsors.

As a student in the Bachelor of Science in Integrated Information Technology program, you will perfect your information technology and communication skills, and you will develop an understanding of business and technological issues. During your freshman and sophomore years, you'll take required university courses such as English, history, foreign language, fine arts and social science, as well as core courses in your major. In your junior and senior years, you'll complete major courses including networking, database management, visual programming and project management. You'll round off your academic career with a senior capstone project class and an industry internship, positioning yourself for a leadership role in any business setting.

As a mathematics major, you will also develop widely sought-after skills, such as the ability to logically and critically evaluate situations including developing and implementing effective problem-solving strategies involving a wide range of ideas and data. You will enjoy relatively small classes with increased interaction with your professors.

We encourage you to take advantage of the Mathematics Library and the Hedberg Student Lounge, complete with a refrigerator, microwave, sink and chalkboard — perfect for studying in groups.

You will choose an area of emphasis from actuarial, education, applied or general. Additionally, the department’s list of Knowles Science Teaching Fellowships in Mathematics recipients is growing very rapidly. These national awards provide funding for the completion of the student’s education as well as the first few years of teaching.
