The Moore School's Department of Management is home to globally recognized thought leaders who create new knowledge about the effective management of people and organizations and disseminate this knowledge by developing business leaders and fostering innovation. It offers an undergraduate concentration in management in addition to various degree programs in entrepreneurship and human resources.

The Department of Management is home to research and educational centers. These centers contribute to educational excellence in traditional management areas that include entrepreneurship, strategic management, human resources, business communication, business ethics and organizational behavior.

Students at the University of South Carolina are living in an increasingly globalized context in which economic, social, environmental, and cultural transformations in one part of the world can affect all others.  The State of South Carolina leads the nation in per capita foreign direct investment.  The ability to comprehend and communicate in diverse languages not only prepares our students to understand the history and traditions of our own culture, it also equips them to be active and engaged representatives of the state in the global economy and world affairs. The ability to communicate in a foreign language has been shown to correlate directly with career success by a variety of empirical studies. The major in languages, with its multiple and flexible tracks, is vital for the preparation of the next generation of South Carolina citizens and leaders.

• Students will demonstrate a solid base of knowledge in Biology. Subjects such as cell and molecular biology, genetics, ecology and evolution, plant biology, and physiology are all crucial subject areas that will be mastered.
• Students will analyze qualitative and quantitative data, assess validity of work and identify gaps in knowledge, and evaluate the results of analyses and experiments and decide on next steps.
• Students will identify assumptions, create and evaluate hypotheses,  and design relevant experiments.
• Students will be trained to locate sources of information and to evaluate the quality of the information needed to make decisions.  Students will be trained to critically read and discuss primary literature and evaluate its validity (on an appropriate level).
• Students will demonstrate the ability to learn independently and then share that knowledge with others as well as to work collaboratively.

The B.A. in Environmental Studies degree incorporates critical social, economic, policy, communications and/or humanities components that are not within the B.S. degree. The curriculum prepares students to address complex environmental problems requiring knowledge and understanding from multiple social and science disciplines that are framed in an environmental context. Students learn to make sound analyses and judgments about interdisciplinary environmental challenges and to seek and develop sustainable solutions that productively integrate social and economic needs with scientific and technical understanding.

Environmental Studies majors may combine coursework in sustainability, anthropology, political science, geography, history, economics, business, media arts and journalism to create an individually tailored curriculum relative to their career goals.

Impending environmental challenges include climate change, increasing drought and other extreme weather events and their impacts on infrastructure and food, energy and water supply, loss of biodiversity, increases in infectious disease, and invasive species. Environmental scientists may find themselves conducting field research to quantify such issues, while environmental studies majors may use their skills to incorporate that data into policy, advocacy and sustainable business practices.

With a combination of passion and pragmatism, nurturing and virtuosity, cost and value, depth and breadth of opportunity, the School of Music provides a perfect balance of high musical standards, a caring environment vested in student success and career and musical life preparation.

The bachelor's in music is designed for students who want to major in music while receiving a broad, liberal arts education. B.A. students will select a cognate (12 credits) or minor area (18 credits) outside the School of Music to prepare for a variety of careers that may be interdisciplinary in nature.

Students must satisfy all general education requirements as specified in the chosen degree. These requirements are designed to give students broad experience in liberal arts and sciences and opportunities to develop intellectual skills in analysis and evaluation, as well as competence in written and oral communication. 

The goal of this one-year graduate program is to inspire entrepreneurial-minded science and engineering students to take leaderships roles in product design in large organizations and embark on new business ventures. The program includes an integrated curriculum, new venture creation projects, an innovation immersion module, and is taught by a blend of academic faculty and experienced entrepreneurs and investors from the private sector.

With programs and concentrations at all academic levels, the School of Accounting at the Darla Moore School of Business offers something for everyone. The Moore School offers an undergraduate major in accounting, master's degree programs in business measurement and assurance and taxation, and a concentration within the Ph.D. program in business administration.

We were the first major university to create a separate department for the study of sport and entertainment management in a business curriculum. As a national leader, we continue to offer innovative academic programs to prepare you for your role in this exciting field.

Our challenging coursework will provide you a thorough grounding in the economics, accounting, finance and marketing aspects of the sport and entertainment industries.

Two required internships in your chosen field will allow you to enter the industry with exceptional knowledge and professional preparation. Our strong alumni network will give you the opportunity to interact with industry professionals on a regular basis and provide the support you need to confidently assume leadership positions. You also can expand your educational experience by attending conferences, participating in industry events and taking advantage of opportunities for study abroad.

Tourism management majors combine studies in the liberal arts with studies in statistics, accounting, marketing, economics, human resources, service management, finance and information technology, as well as club, hotel and tourism management.

As a tourism management major, you will be involved in field studies, group projects, computer simulations and event and festival planning. The major also offers one of only two Club Management Association of America-certified programs, or you can choose to concentrate in meeting and events. Students wishing to pursue the concentration in club management are required to complete 15 credit hours including club management, club cuisine and service, and advanced club management and a hospitality and tourism internship.

A minimum of two required internships can take tourism management majors to locales from coast to coast and all places in between, with an emphasis on honing your management skills. In addition to internships, you can take advantage of numerous clubs, volunteer opportunities and tourism-related study abroad experiences.
