With programs and concentrations at all academic levels, the School of Accounting at the Darla Moore School of Business offers something for everyone. The Moore School offers an undergraduate major in accounting, master's degree programs in business measurement and assurance and taxation, and a concentration within the Ph.D. program in business administration.

The information science major focuses on effectively collecting, storing, managing, preserving and using information to benefit businesses and nonprofits. Information science brings together technology, information and users to achieve strategic goals of organizations and ultimately improve society.

As an information science major, you will acquire skills needed for managing the life-cycle of information while connecting users to essential information. Information science students develop strong technical skills connecting diverse communities with means to navigate and succeed in today’s complex information world. Information scientists are essential professionals across nearly every industry, from banking to government to medicine.

Are you interested in learning about some of the most pressing social issues of the day, such as immigration, discrimination, economic and social inequality, demographic change, race and ethnic relations, and health and well-being? If so, our sociology program may be right for you. You can pursue a B.A. or B.S. degree in sociology or continue your learning by pursuing the accelerated bachelor's/graduate study plan, in which you receive a master's degree in sociology. The department offers graduate degrees at the master's and doctoral levels.

As a sociology major, you will explore complex issues of power, inequality, identity and conflict across a variety of different social groups and social institutions, such as schools, families and law enforcement. You will also learn to question common wisdoms, raise important questions, examine arguments, synthesize information, analyze data, make conclusions and present arguments supported by empirical research and sociological theory, both orally and in writing.

As part of your learning, you will be able to take advantage of outstanding facilities that include the Laboratory for Sociological Research, one of the largest facilities of its type in the world, and a statistics laboratory. You can also develop your own research project or collaborate with faculty members on a project and participate in department events, including guest speaker presentations and workshops.

Students at the University of South Carolina are living in an increasingly globalized context in which economic, social, environmental, and cultural transformations in one part of the world can affect all others.  The State of South Carolina leads the nation in per capita foreign direct investment.  The ability to comprehend and communicate in diverse languages not only prepares our students to understand the history and traditions of our own culture, it also equips them to be active and engaged representatives of the state in the global economy and world affairs. The ability to communicate in a foreign language has been shown to correlate directly with career success by a variety of empirical studies. The major in languages, with its multiple and flexible tracks, is vital for the preparation of the next generation of South Carolina citizens and leaders.

• Graduates of the program will have an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors

• Graduates of the program will have an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
• Graduates of the program will have an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
• Graduates of the program will have an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
• Graduates of the program will have an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

Aerospace engineering graduate degrees include the Master of Engineering (M.E.), which is perceived to be more practically oriented, and the Master of Science (M.S.), which is considered more scholarly or fundamental and includes a thesis.

Programs of study for both the M.S. and M.E. in Aerospace Engineering include coursework in five core areas:

• Aerospace Structures
• Composite Materials
• Finite Element Analysis

Additional electives allow students to concentrate their studies in the mechanics, materials, and flight aspects of aerospace engineering.

U.S. News & World Report ranks the University of South Carolina's Chemical Engineering Program as one of the best in the country. The program also ranks 14th nationally in federally-funded chemical research and development, according to the National Science Foundation.

As a music major with a concentration in music performance, you can choose from nine performance areas: brass, conducting, guitar, jazz, keyboard, percussion, strings, voice and woodwinds.

Every performance area is designed to maximize your potential, enhancing the technical skills and knowledge you need to succeed as a professional musician. While some instruction happens in the classroom, other skills are developed by performing in symphonies, operas, quartets, bands and ensembles.

Around the world, people and places are intimately linked. Our flexible, interdisciplinary program is designed to engage students in pressing global questions, allowing you to develop a deeper understanding of the complex relationships and processes that connect the global community.

As a global studies major, you will focus on themes relating to globalization while learning to appreciate the world’s diversity. To achieve this end, this major requires students to focus on a particular world region and to attain proficiency in a modern foreign language.

Students in the Global Studies Program will focus on one of four themes: global health, global conflict and security, global sustainability and development, and global cultures. These themes, along with the major components around which the degree program is structured, will prepare students for careers where an understanding of urgent global issues is required, and where an ability to work with people from a variety of cultures is indispensable.
