Everywhere you look in our world, you see screens. You're used to movie theaters, television and the web. But the screens around you are proliferating. Walk down the street in any city, and you'll see them. Go into any art gallery, and they are there. We bet there's even a screen in your pocket right now. Someone has to decide what those screens look like ... what they mean. Someone has to make them relevant. Someone needs to make them beautiful.

Whether you're interested in filmmaking, game design, animation, internet art, manga, mobile media or worlds beyond, a degree in media arts at South Carolina will prepare you to be a creator in tomorrow's media landscape. Our students are agile, independent artists who are driving the next wave in media culture. Our facilities and equipment are professional-level, and our curriculum is both practical and intellectually challenging. Our faculty members have screened their work on every continent (yes, even Antarctica), and our graduates are making names for themselves all over the world.  

Our exercise science programs will help you expand and disseminate the body of knowledge concerning the relationships between exercise participation, physical activity and human health.

The Master of Science (MS) degree in Exercise Science prepares students for careers in academia and multiple health-related specialties and professions within the broad scope of Exercise Physiology, such as exercise physiologist, fitness coordinator, rehabilitation coordinator, and many more.  Additionally, the curriculum and related research opportunities prepare students for pursuing additional graduate work (e.g., PhD, MD, DPT).  The curriculum includes coursework in exercise physiology, clinical exercise testing, research methods and statistics, physical activity and health, and motor control and development. Elective coursework is also embedded within this framework to allow for individual interests, examples include skeletal muscle physiology, endocrinology in exercise and health, neural repair and rehabilitation, and community-based interventions for physical activity.

The Bachelor of Arts in Dance offers two concentrations (performance and choreography or dance education), and all students are required to actively participate in departmental productions.

The program is known for offering rigorous technical training while also providing opportunities for broad-based study in dance and beyond. Experience a world-class repertory, including historical dance works by George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, David Parsons, Lila York and Lynne Taylor Corbett, as well as original works by our eminent faculty. You will be exposed to dance techniques that include classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz, musical theater and world dance.

Students focusing in dance education have multiple opportunities to participate in professional learning experiences in a variety of educational and community settings while completing their studies. By extending the classroom into the field, students participate in hands-on learning that prepares them for teaching dance to a variety of populations while earning K-12 certification in dance.

The art history program offers courses in ancient, medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, 18th-century, modern, American and Asian art, as well as architecture and film and photo history. General survey and special topics courses are offered every semester. Our faculty consists of dedicated teachers who are also nationally and internationally recognized scholars.

Through classroom instruction and additional research and internship opportunities students develop skills in visual analysis, historical understanding, critical thinking, research and writing, and intellectual and practical problem solving.

As a geophysics major, you will benefit from a combination of quality classroom education, laboratory experience and field-based activities. You will focus on the physics of the earth and its atmosphere, including seismology, oceanography and volcanology.

You will also have the unique opportunity to complete a field-based course to get valuable hands-on experience with practical geophysical techniques for exploring the shallow subsurface. This opportunity synergizes your education in geophysics to understanding the earth's formation in an observational setting.

The Master of Science in Sport and Entertainment Management (MSEM) is a 36-credit hour degree program designed to train students for management and leadership careers in sport, entertainment and venue industries.

In an age of rapid changes in new knowledge and technologies, public health professionals require a broad education that emphasizes problem-solving skills and an understanding of ethical behavior. Our commitment to you is a first-rate, well-rounded education that will prepare you for a career in service to humanity.

The Arnold School offers two undergraduate degree programs in public health. While both programs share similar core requirements, the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree places more emphasis on social and behavioral sciences for entry into social science-based graduate programs such as law school.

The management department offers an undergraduate concentration in human resources as well as a broad range of courses in areas ranging from strategic management to business communications. Students are exposed to a unique blend of classroom and applied experiential learning opportunities to prepare them for work in the modern economy. We also offer a wide range of both required and elective courses in areas such as entrepreneurship, leadership, consulting and organizational development, human resources, talent analytics and strategic management.

Marketing is the function in business and nonbusiness organizations that is responsible for developing, pricing, distributing and promoting products, services and ideas.

Marketing majors in the Darla Moore School of Business will benefit from studying in a department that is widely acclaimed for its scholarly expertise in a variety of areas including consumer psychology, marketing strategy, research methods, behavioral pricing and marketing communications.

As a marketing major, you will develop cutting-edge business knowledge and skills with a strong foundation in liberal arts and sciences.
