At Pacific, you will have the opportunity to learn through experience by interning or working with professional sociologists. That gives our program an added dimension that many larger programs do not provide. Our students are very active in campus and community organizations, enriching their experience as sociology majors.

The chemistry program offers a variety of exciting and future-oriented research topics, from organic synthesis, biochemistry, theoretical chemistry to physical chemistry and spectroscopy. When you earn a chemistry degree at Pacific, you can expect training in practical laboratory skills, which give you a competitive edge as you enter the workplace or pursue graduate degrees.

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting is a four-year degree that includes study of all functional areas of accounting including financial, managerial, cost, federal income tax accounting, accounting information systems, and auditing. Graduates of the program are fully prepared to enter accounting careers in the corporate, governmental, and not-for-profit areas. The program consists of 128 hours of coursework, and positions those graduates who desire licensure as Certified Public Accountants to continue their studies.

In addition to the general education courses required by the University, the Bachelor of Science in Accounting curriculum requires a set of preprofessional skills courses in the areas of communication, mathematics and economics. Many of these courses also satisfy certain general education requirements. Students also progress through a series of courses in core business areas such as accounting, management, marketing and finance. In their junior year, students begin their intermediate accounting studies, and end the program with a series of advanced accounting courses including auditing, advanced financial accounting, cost accounting, and income tax accounting.

Civil engineering encompasses the structures and systems of a functioning society. From the water people drink to the roads they travel on, the work of civil engineers serves and benefits society every day.

The civil engineering program is recognized for its practical curriculum, high academic standards and student-centered emphasis. In addition to the CO-OP experience, students have opportunities to participate in competitions and hands-on projects as part of their studies.

Graduates of Pacific’s civil engineering program have the knowledge, skills and qualities necessary to pursue professional licensure and advanced level studies, practice engineering, and lead in the profession and in their communities.

Music composition at University of the Pacific is a fully immersive and broad major which will position you well to navigate this ever-evolving field of music. You will spend extensive time writing works for a variety of ensembles, learning a broad range of compositional techniques and honing your own compositional voice. You will compose for solo instruments, small ensembles, voice, chorus, percussion, digital media and larger musical forces such as orchestra and band. Specialized studies in orchestration, contemporary performance techniques, electronic music and film scoring will add crucial skills to your creative tool kit.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music is designed to help you connect music to the liberal arts and sciences. It provides a breadth of study that can serve as excellent preparation for graduate study in music. Its adaptability can also serve students with professional flexibility via a broad choice of electives to design a curriculum for a unique degree path or career. The music portion of this degree is quite similar to the Bachelor of Music requirements in the first year, allowing you for exploration of these options or electives while still progressing toward graduation. An independent capstone project allows you to further a particular musical interest or to combine musical and non-musical research.

The new Master of Science in Computer Science degree program is built on a 96-year foundation of engineering and computer science at University of the Pacific. The one to two-year program, taught at the iconic ivy-covered campus in Stockton, California, teaches students advanced techniques and best practices of professional research and establishes the intellectual foundations for achieving excellence in the field of computer science. Graduates of the degree program will be prepared to create new technologies and enhance existing systems with a curriculum that dives into machine learning, data science, virtual reality, and more. The Music Performance major offers you an opportunity to study the fundamental principles of your chosen instrument through a broad range of pedagogical approaches that culminate in the holistic performance of a broad range of literature. Our faculty are professional musicians and educators experienced in all facets of performance. Students have the opportunity to perform in master classes, solo recitals and in a wide range of ensembles including band, orchestra, jazz, choir, opera, contemporary and chamber music.
