The Biology Major integrates practical skills (laboratory and field work) and theoretical education into courses that investigate the diversity and biology of plants, animals, and microbes. Sociology is the scientific study of social life and the causes and consequences of human behavior, social groups, and societies. Southern New Hampshire University's Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies presents a systematic vision of the justice system and exposes its majors to the panoply of careers, theories and applications, agencies and institutions that comprise American justice. The B.S. in Justice Studies consists of a core and a series of tracks which allows students to tailor the program toward their career goals. The core lays out the essential knowledge base for Justice Studies majors and reviews the fundamentals of legal and social science research, provides overview courses on the system at large, and instructs on criminal law and correctional systems. The B.S. in Justice Studies emphasizes the full range of justice functions, from policing to corrections, from law to private sector justice. Students selecting a concentration in mental health will take coursework in counseling techniques and psychological assessment. They will also gain direct experience in the field as early as their freshman year, with placements including school guidance offices, community mental health centers, and social service programs throughout the Manchester NH area. Graduates of SNHU's Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health have taken jobs as case managers, residential counselors, and intake coordinators, among other psychology-related professions.
