Quantitative Tools
Policy analysis requires strong quantitative skills and analytical thinking. This concentration will help you master your understanding of how numbers work, how population and demographic changes affect policy, and what factors may need to be accounted for when policy decisions are made.

Gain a purposeful understanding of the past with social scientific and humanistic perspectives to produce impactful and relevant research. With an interdisciplinary approach to history,you can turn your focus into a fulfilling program of study with the Master of Arts in Social Studies program at the University at Albany.

Your studies will center on one of 10 disciplines: Africana Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Political Science, Public Affairs, Sociology and Women's Studies. The Organic Chemistry concentration for this program requires an internship, field experience, study abroad component, or clinical experience requirement. Students who have previously been convicted of a felony are advised that their prior criminal history may impede their ability to complete the requirements of certain academic programs and/or to meet licensure requirements for certain professions.

Launch your career as an information technology security analyst, cyber defense manager, or forensic examiner in the private or public sector. 

UAlbany’s master’s in digital forensics and cybersecurity will teach you how to rapidly detect and deter malicious network intruders and use special forensics tools to gather and analyze digital evidence.

Cyber Defense Track
This track covers computer hardware and operating systems, cyber security threats and controls, network monitoring, vulnerability scanning, anomaly and intrusion detection, incident response methods, and machine learning and artificial intelligence in cyber defense.

By the end of the program, you’ll know how to set up a monitoring system and analyze network traffic, identify system threats, analyze cybersecurity incidents, reverse engineer malware, manage risks, and develop regulation-compliant security policies.

Explore the theory and practice of documentary filmmaking, journalism and other forms of media with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Documentary Studies from the University at Albany.

This interdisciplinary degree gives you fresh perspective on modern media through a curriculum spanning multiple academic departments and disciplines. If you want to become a certified public accountant but didn’t earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting, the 21-month MS in Accounting program at UAlbany can help you achieve your goal.

Designed for students with no prior background in accounting or business, this cohort-based program includes four semesters of full-time study that fulfill the education criteria required to obtain initial licensure as a certified public accountant in New York State. (A part-time option is also available for this program. Full-time requires availability days and evenings, Monday-Friday).

Coursework covers management fundamentals, in-depth study of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and practical training in contemporary accounting software and emerging technologies. Advanced topics include liabilities, assets, and income tax; auditing and internal controls; and budgeting and cost-profit analysis. In your last semester, you complete an academic research seminar.

This bachelor’s program will teach you to design, build, and test sophisticated software systems and install them on computer platforms; work with and design software systems involving databases, modeling, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, communication, and information retrieval; and solve problems by working with programming languages, data structures, and algorithm analysis.
