Gender, Race, and Society
Combines the disciplines of sociology, Latin American and Caribbean studies, African American studies, and gender and sexuality to provide a comprehensive approach to understanding how gender, race, ethnicity, and ability interact in today’s world.

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program at the University at Albany is one of the few programs in the country that provides a solid foundation in both electrical engineering and computer engineering – while also allowing you to customize your degree to meet your interests and career goals.

Studies can be adjusted to emphasize computer engineering, electrical engineering, or both through a wide variety of electives in the junior and senior years, providing both the depth and breadth that will make you well-prepared for today's job market or to advance to graduate studies.

If you want to become a certified public accountant but didn’t earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting, the 21-month MS in Accounting program at UAlbany can help you achieve your goal.

Designed for students with no prior background in accounting or business, this cohort-based program includes four semesters of full-time study that fulfill the education criteria required to obtain initial licensure as a certified public accountant in New York State. (A part-time option is also available for this program. Full-time requires availability days and evenings, Monday-Friday).

Coursework covers management fundamentals, in-depth study of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and practical training in contemporary accounting software and emerging technologies. Advanced topics include liabilities, assets, and income tax; auditing and internal controls; and budgeting and cost-profit analysis. In your last semester, you complete an academic research seminar.

Engage in courses covering a diverse range of cultural and historical topics. Classes include African and African American Literature, The Economic Structure of the Black Community, The Geography of Africa, and the Psychology of the Black Experience. Perfect your research methodologies in the senior seminar through a culminating capstone paper exploring your experiences in the program.

Launch your career as an information technology security analyst, cyber defense manager, or forensic examiner in the private or public sector. 

UAlbany’s master’s in digital forensics and cybersecurity will teach you how to rapidly detect and deter malicious network intruders and use special forensics tools to gather and analyze digital evidence.

Cyber Defense Track
This track covers computer hardware and operating systems, cyber security threats and controls, network monitoring, vulnerability scanning, anomaly and intrusion detection, incident response methods, and machine learning and artificial intelligence in cyber defense.

By the end of the program, you’ll know how to set up a monitoring system and analyze network traffic, identify system threats, analyze cybersecurity incidents, reverse engineer malware, manage risks, and develop regulation-compliant security policies.

Learn to think critically about world events while building familiarity with modern reporting methods. You will not only write print articles, but design and fill websites with video, photos and sound to report news and engage with audiences.

Through coursework and internships you will gain valuable multimedia experience that will serve you in industries from news reporting and public relations to publishing and politics in the bachelor’s in journalism program at the University at Albany.

The bachelor’s in business administration program at UAlbany will increase your understanding of fundamental business concepts and provide you with practical skills in your chosen area of concentration.

Available concentrations include the financial analyst honors program, information systems and business analytics, and marketing. Many combined concentrations are also offered, including entrepreneurship and management.

Marketing
Concentrating in marketing equips you with the knowledge and skills to better understand, analyze, and manage consumer behavior, customer and business relationships, and firm strategy. You will practice applying tools and strategies used by businesses today to identify potential customers, introduce new products to the market, develop branding and advertising campaigns, and analyze market data. You will also be exposed to emerging trends in marketing analytics, services marketing, and social media and digital marketing.

You may either concentrate solely in marketing or choose a combined area of study that will complement your career goals.

Study the social, political, economic, and cultural forces that influence definitions of crime, explain offending and crime rates, sway societal reactions, influence policy, and shape the criminal justice system. With a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice you will be qualified to pursue careers in law enforcement, government, research, and non-profit agencies. You may also consider graduate or law school as your next step.
