The International Year program is designed especially for international students. Sociology
Sociology is the science that studies the social relationships of people. Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Electrical and Computer Engineering major (designated as a pre-major) is a nationally-recognized program designed for students interested in math and science and the advancement of technology. The Theory major in the School of Music is for students who wish to concentrate their study on the theory of music. Students will conduct research under mentors, faculty members who are active in academic discourse on the national and international level.  Areas of study include:

The Earth Science major can be combined with a major in Environmental Studies for students interested in the impact humanity has on the natural environment. Graduates can expect to find career opportunities in a number of areas, including oil or energy, environmental consulting, state water control, the Environmental Protection Agency and many others.

The Arabic and Middle East Studies major includes foreign language courses and those highlighting Middle East politics and culture. The importance of the Middle East in world affairs has grown in the past decade, and so has the need for workers who are trained in Arabic language and culture. Courses include:

The Mathematics major involves a variety of mathematical areas, both traditional and contemporary. Math involves learning the terms, methods and formulae and applying the mathematics to solve theoretical and practical problems. Graduates of the program are highly marketable in a range of fields because the program helps them develop problem-solving skills and trains them to think, and argue, logically.  Available courses include:

Mathematics is in the Bachelor of Science degree program as well as in the Bachelor of Arts degree program. The BS in Mathematics curriculum provides the student with a basic background in mathematics.  It allows a student to place some emphasis on an area of mathematics that is related to engineering, the biological, physical, or social sciences. The BA in Mathematics curriculum provides the student with a basic background in mathematics in the context of a liberal arts education.

Environmental Studies
The Environmental Studies major explores the interactions between human societies and the environment. The coursework investigates a variety of systems is the study of human interaction with the environment. The coursework discusses a variety of systems - political, economic and ecological - and their connections with the environment. The Environmental Studies major is offered with concentrations in either Environment and Society or Natural Resources Management. Students are encouraged to take part in internships and research opportunities with faculty. Graduates are well prepared for positions in environment consulting firms and regulatory agencies. Other graduates pursue postbaccalaureate study in law, environmental planning and natural resources management.
