The Master's International Year has been designed for students who don’t meet the entry requirements for direct admission to a Master’s engineering program at Baylor University.

Why Study the Master’s International Year?
Achieve your Master's degree in Engineering in four semesters – the same amount of time as a direct admission student. In this two-semester program, you'll earn up to 12 credits toward your degree while benefiting from the personalized support of our dedicated Global Gateway Program faculty and staff. 

What You Will Study
In the Master's International Program, you’ll study core courses in your Engineering program while developing your English language skills. Your first two semesters will be taught jointly by the University and the International Study Center, so you will be integrated into your Engineering program from the start. 

You’ll develop your engineering skills through coursework and practicum projects, which will vary depending on your interests and ambitions. Alongside engineering, you will be able to study complementary subjects such as business, mathematics, statistics and more – so you graduate ready to begin your career.

The Human Resource Management major (designated as a pre-major) is a comprehensive study of the way people work in a business. The study includes the hiring process, employee training, conflict resolution and career planning. The program's goal is to train students to be competent human resource specialists who work strategically with organizations to recruit the right talent, motivate them with compensation and make them even more valuable through training and development. The curriculum fully aligns with the standards set by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Available courses include:

Choral Music
The Choral Music major in the Bachelor of Music Education degree program is designed for students interested in teaching choral music or elementary general music in public schools. This degree leads to Texas teacher certification. Areas of study include:

Environmental Health Science
Environmental Health Science studies the relationship between the environment and human health. This includes preventing illness by identifying and assessing hazardous agents, environmental sources and limiting exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents in air, water, soil, food and other environments that may impact human health. Environmental health professionals work to ensure safe water, food, air quality and workplace conditions, mitigate the impact of disasters and investigate and help control disease outbreaks. History
The History program at Baylor is for students intrigued by the stories we tell about our past. History is the study of the human past as it is constructed and interpreted, based on written, material, and oral evidence. Philosophy
The Philosophy major provides a solid foundation in the history of philosophy.  It also provides an in-depth study of specific subject areas including logic, ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, and metaphysics. This dual emphasis cultivates students' capacity for critical analysis, stimulates independent thinking and promotes sound reasoning based on knowledge, moral discrimination and religious insight. • Philosophical Issues in Feminism

The Philosophy Department offers a Pre-Law track as well as a Medical Concentration. Studying philosophy provides excellent preparation for the problem solving, critical thinking and analytical writing essential for the law and medical professions. Philosophy is also offered as a minor for students wishing to enhance another academic major.

The Church Music program at Baylor University is designed for students desiring to take their passion for music and utilize it in a church setting. The Church Music major is available in the Bachelor of Music (BM) degree or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. All students desiring to pursue a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Arts in Music degree must audition before members of the appropriate applied music faculty for acceptance into a music degree program. Students may pursue either a BM or BA in Church Music.
The Church Music major in the Bachelor of Music (BM) program at Baylor allows students to concentrate on one of three different emphases depending on their primary instrument: keyboard, instrumental or voice. The Bachelor of Arts program is designed in the liberal arts tradition and is a good fit for students who want a church music degree and who want to take additional courses outside of their major course of study.

Asian Studies
The Asian Studies program provides opportunities for study and research of the diverse societies that inhabit the Asian continent. The program takes as its geographical focus the regions of Eurasia and the Asia-Pacific. Interdisciplinary in approach, the program spans the fields of economics, foreign languages, history, political science, sociology and religion, and is dedicated to providing opportunities for foreign study and field experiences.

Through its major, minor and concentration curricula, the Asian Studies program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation to pursue careers in government services, business, and nongovernmental organizations, as well as for further graduate study.
