The Physical Education major prepares students for teaching or coaching grades K-12. This degree program satisfies the requirements for the Texas Teachers Certification and prepares students to teach grades K-12 with an emphasis in coaching in either a private or a public school setting. The Baylor Education program offers a unique opportunity for students planning to teach upon graduation. Beginning freshman year, all teaching majors have several internships in different schools in Waco. This hands-on experience puts theories into practice and helps set Baylor students apart from other candidates in the field.  This is because Baylor requires more in classroom hours than most standard education programs.

The Apparel Design & Product Development curriculum develops students into professionals that will be successful in both the domestic and international marketplace. Fashion design is the development of apparel, textile and consumer products that meet the needs of specific consumer markets. Students develop an understanding of these needs through the study of consumer behavior, demographics and psychographics. Apparel Design courses are both creative and high technical. Courses include:

The Mechanical Engineering major (designated as a pre-major) helps students build a strong engineering foundation by studying thermal/fluids, materials/mechanical systems and design. In addition to foundational mechanical engineering courses, students can further specialize by choosing electives that will improve their ability to apply fundamentals and to design machines and energy systems. Nutrition Sciences
Nutrition Sciences is the study of food its components, and how the body handles food substances. In the Nutrition Sciences major, you will explore how nutrients, and the foods from which they are derived, aid the body in growth and development and maintain health and wellness. Mathematics
The Mathematics major involves a variety of mathematical areas, both traditional and contemporary. Math involves learning the terms, methods and formulae and applying the mathematics to solve theoretical and practical problems. Graduates of the program are highly marketable in a range of fields because the program helps them develop problem-solving skills and trains them to think, and argue, logically.  Available courses include:

Mathematics is in the Bachelor of Science degree program as well as in the Bachelor of Arts degree program. The BS in Mathematics curriculum provides the student with a basic background in mathematics.  It allows a student to place some emphasis on an area of mathematics that is related to engineering, the biological, physical, or social sciences. The BA in Mathematics curriculum provides the student with a basic background in mathematics in the context of a liberal arts education.

The Finance major is the study of the decision-making process involved in managing and acquiring assets to create a profit. It is a pre-major.  The major offers two focuses, Corporate Finance and Investments. Corporate Finance is the study of research and acquisition of assets for companies. The study of Investments includes the valuing of financial securities and corporate and personal portfolio management. Available courses include:

Social Work
The Social Work program (designated as a pre-major) is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. At the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work, students learn about human dignity and the need for justice. They also learn about caring as the foundation for effective change and service that transforms lives and communities. Social Work is a profession that prepares practitioners to empower individuals. It also prepares them to advocate for social justice in organizations and communities. Coursework combines a thorough liberal arts education with field experience with community professionals. The Biochemistry major is designed to provide a firm foundation in biochemistry and prepare students for careers in health-related disciplines, medical research or biotechnology. A solid background in biochemistry is an important advantage for medical school and many Biochemistry majors declare a Pre-Health track. Biochemistry students are encouraged to take more biology courses than the typical chemistry major. Available courses include:

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry is a good choice for students who wish to attend a professional school in medicine or dentistry. The Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry is a good selection for students desiring to do graduate work in Biochemistry or pursue research-related careers.

Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation
Entrepreneurship and Corporate Innovation program is designated as a pre-major.  The program develops students' knowledge of the entrepreneurial process.  It also develops the technical tools and techniques required in various ventures. Several publications have recognized the strengths of the program with awards and recognitions.  These publications include U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. Students may also pursue a Social Entrepreneurship Track.  Available courses include:

The program pairs with companies to provide summer and semester internships. The Hankamer School of Business offers student exchange and study abroad programs.  The program offers a few study abroad opportunities unique to the program.

English majors focus on analyzing and interpreting a variety of literature like novels, short stories, essays, poetry and other works of creative writing. The coursework includes a variety of studies including history, politics, arts and culture.
