As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Diplomacy and International Public Service
The Diplomacy and International Public Service concentration provides students with a foundation for applying the tools and understanding of diplomatic practices to mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy, and leadership within international non-governmental organizations. Students will have the opportunity to place the study and practice of diplomacy in conversation with the disciplines of management, ethics, international political economy, public policy, and international relations.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) will prepare you for a leadership position within the public sector. You’ll develop the critical management skills you’ll need to succeed in your public service career, including:

• Ethical organizational leadership
• Public finance and budgeting
• Human resource management
• Public policy design and analysis

Choose a specialization in one of the following areas:

• Emergency Management
• Public Management
• Metropolitan and Urban Affairs
• International Public Management

Metropolitan and Urban Affairs Concentration
This concentration is for students wanting to work in land use, transportation, economic development, zoning, housing, and other areas of community development. Coursework emphasizes the technical skills of public administration and the tools of analyses and development as applied in a broad public setting. Students study best practices to illustrate the effectiveness of alternative designs and models.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

In DePaul’s Master of Science (MS) in Economics and Policy Analysis, you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of economic theory and advanced skills in data analysis that position you to examine economic and business policies. The research-driven curriculum prepares you to be a hands-on economic analyst.

Interested students participate in 12- to 16-week fellowships at private companies, a government agency, public policy institute, or nonprofit in Chicago, Washington D.C., or another city.

Our highly ranked Accounting program provides you with the building blocks you’ll need to analyze, interpret and communicate financial information. Through our rigorous curriculum, you’ll develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving, as well as a foundation of knowledge in management, finance, marketing, business law and technology, while preparing to sit for the CPA exam. As you earn your bachelor’s degree in accounting, you’ll also acquire tools and skills for job interviews, résumé writing and career management.

You will learn from professors who have served as accounting executives, chief financial officers, controllers and internal auditors for major corporations. They bring a wealth of real-world experiences into the classroom and are committed to teaching you the fundamentals of accounting theory—leading to the practice of accounting.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

The Master of Science in Game Programming is designed for those interested in game development programming at the highest level, including real time computing, computer graphics, and professional retooling for the game industry. Students will learn about software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, animation, software architecture, and networking. The game programming degree addresses the real-world needs of industry through special, topic-based classes. Courses are taught with a mixture of theory and applied practice. Covering both emerging trends and proven knowledge, the program's content is always relevant and current. This combination of approaches allows students to understand the connection between realized applied systems and issues they'll likely face professionally in years to come.

?Emergency Management Concentration
Emergency Management is a critical concern for the public, private and non-profit sectors. The concentration explores both the conceptual elements of emergency preparedness and the practical implementation of emergency management that typically occur at the intersection of local and national politics. Courses will address topics such as public safety and law enforcement, crisis management, disaster response and recovery. This concentration will provide students with both theoretical and practical knowledge that will prepare them for private or public sector employment in the area of emergency preparedness for both security and non-security related incidents

DePaul’s master’s in Sociology program is designed to expose you to key sociological methods and theory. Sociologists explore areas such as law and society, health care institutions, family life, criminology, urban development, social psychology, sports, education, political and economic behavior, media, culture and the arts.
