DePaul’s Special Education degree program will prepare you to teach students with exceptionalities from kindergarten to age 21 in a variety of urban and suburban educational settings, including public and private schools.

By completing the bachelor’s in Special Education degree program, you’ll be eligible for the Illinois Learning and Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) license, provided you complete additional state requirements.

You’ll complete two lab-based courses in the Education and Counseling Center in the College of Education, one focused on reading, and one on math. In each course, you’ll work with a struggling learner from the community. You’ll also complete two field-based practicum courses (totaling 70 hours of field experience) with related seminars: one focused on learners with high incidence disabilities in an inclusive setting, and one focused on students with low incidence disabilities in a self-contained setting.

The Media and Cinema Studies degree combines courses from the film, television, radio and new media fields of study. You will develop an understanding of critical frameworks and theories in media studies, as well as develop your creativity and technological skills.

You will take courses from the College of Communication, the School of Cinematic Arts and other university departments. And you will have access to DePaul’s green screen studio, control room, film editing suites and the digital equipment facility.

The College of Communication is located in downtown Chicago, at DePaul’s Loop campus, giving you access to many media outlets and allowing you to meet and work professionally with leading companies in the industry.

Gain an understanding of the history of philosophy, philosophical issues regarding law, medicine and business, as well as the basic problems posed by diverse thinkers. You will also develop analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills while analyzing both the humanistic and technical features of philosophy.

Regardless of your career goals, a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy will provide you with excellent tools and skills in critical thinking, analyzing content from various perspectives, and verbal and written communication. You will learn to form arguments and take a position on an issue.

In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematical Sciences programs, your mathematics degree coursework will teach you fundamentals of pure and applied mathematics, preparing you for a career in mathematics, natural sciences, computer science, social sciences or business.

As a mathematics degree student, you’ll choose one of the following seven concentrations:

• Actuarial Science
• Applied and Computational Mathematics
• Financial Mathematics
• Pure Mathematics
• Quantitative Analysis and Operations Research
• Statistics

In the Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies major, you will critically examine the origins and root causes of violence and conflict, and learn strategies for resolving interpersonal, communal and international conflicts peacefully. You will master the theoretical and intellectual frameworks related to peace building, human rights advocacy and justice development by learning to interpret real life situations and applying strategies for advocacy, consensus-building, partnership development and other intervention tools.

You will complete an internship with an organization related to peace, social justice or conflict resolution.

Take advantage of DePaul’s Study Abroad programs in order to gain an international perspective on the causes of violence and conflict, as well as strategies for negotiation and resolution.

Build upon the laws of nature with DePaul’s MS in Physics, designed for students pursuing doctoral studies as well as practicing scientists and engineers. You’ll study classical and quantum mechanics and complete elective courses such as cosmology and laser physics. Your degree will help you further your knowledge and career in science.

The Organizational Communication program explores effective and participatory communication across business and organizational settings.

As an organizational communication major you will learn how to think, speak and write clearly—and how to act as an ethical communicator with confidence. And you will also begin to understand the multicultural character of communication in contemporary workplaces and society through courses that blend theory and practice.

DePaul’s Physical Education (P.E.) degree program will prepare you to pursue a career in teaching physical education in schools from kindergarten through high school.

The P.E. program prepares you to teach children in a variety of urban and suburban educational settings, including both public and private elementary and high schools. You’ll learn theoretical principles of education, teaching techniques and curriculum development. Through our physical education degree program, you’ll also participate in field experiences in local schools and student teach in order to gain hands-on experience.

Our highly ranked Accounting program provides you with the building blocks you’ll need to analyze, interpret and communicate financial information. Through our rigorous curriculum, you’ll develop skills in critical thinking and problem solving, as well as a foundation of knowledge in management, finance, marketing, business law and technology, while preparing to sit for the CPA exam. As you earn your bachelor’s degree in accounting, you’ll also acquire tools and skills for job interviews, résumé writing and career management.

You will learn from professors who have served as accounting executives, chief financial officers, controllers and internal auditors for major corporations. They bring a wealth of real-world experiences into the classroom and are committed to teaching you the fundamentals of accounting theory—leading to the practice of accounting.

The Biological Sciences MS is a versatile degree that’s ideal for those who plan to teach, research or pursue a PhD. Become a well-rounded biologist through a combination of lecture, laboratory and seminar courses. Work on cutting-edge research in labs alongside your peers and professors—and develop your own concentration of studies under the mentorship of your faculty advisor.

Students that are admitted to the MS program are hired as teaching assistants, and provided tuition waivers and stipends.
