In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology programs, you’ll learn psychological theories and research methodologies, as well as gain an understanding of both scientific and applied psychology. As you work towards your bachelors’ degree in Psychology, you’ll design and conduct psychological research studies and learn how to read and analyze scientific data.

Your bachelors’ degree in Psychology coursework focuses on theories, experimental and statistical work, and laboratory and fieldwork, allowing you to gain hands-on research experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work with faculty members on research projects, as well as develop and conduct your own research projects through our independent study program.

Psychology (BA) program

The Psychology Department also offers two internship programs, placing you in human service organizations, community and industrial settings.

DePaul offers a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree program in Psychology and Secondary Education Social Sciences. DePaul’s MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing will prepare and empower you to write a novel or memoir, or a collection of poetry or stories while at DePaul. The Creative Writing and Publishing MFA culminates with a required master’s thesis of publishable quality.

By majoring in Arabic Studies, you will develop the ability to speak, understand, read and write the Arabic language. You will also expand your knowledge of the Middle East and be encouraged to foster an appreciation of Islamic literature and civilization.

The Arabic language is one of the United Nations’ six official languages, and the U.S. Government considers it one of the most critical languages for Americans to learn. Chicago has one of the nation’s largest Arab-American populations in the U.S., giving you opportunities to visit its communities and gain first-hand knowledge about the Arab culture and language.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

Global Public Health
The Diplomacy and Global Public Health concentration provides students with a foundation for applying the tools and understanding of diplomatic practices to mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy and leadership in the field of international public health. Students will have the opportunity to place the study and practice of diplomacy into conversation with the disciplines of behavior theory, health care, forced migration and public policy.

As an Economics major, you’ll learn how to think about behaviors and problems that exist in an economy. You’ll also learn how to analyze economic data to identify and address these problems.

Economics majors develop theoretical, quantitative and analytical skills that complement and enhance what you’ll learn in other business disciplines in the Driehaus College of Business.

The master's in Health Informatics provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to implement and support information technology solutions for health sector organizations. Graduates will obtain technical knowledge and management skills for the design and support of IT systems and will develop a deep understanding of health IT processes to support health care delivery and management. Graduates will also gain knowledge in the areas of health information management including health information processing and exchange, health care analytics, enterprise management and information storage and security management.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) will prepare you for a leadership position within the public sector. You’ll develop the critical management skills you’ll need to succeed in your public service career, including:

Metropolitan and Urban Affairs Concentration
This concentration is for students wanting to work in land use, transportation, economic development, zoning, housing, and other areas of community development. Coursework emphasizes the technical skills of public administration and the tools of analyses and development as applied in a broad public setting. Students study best practices to illustrate the effectiveness of alternative designs and models.
