Our Actuarial Science degree program will prepare you to analyze and help organizations manage the financial consequences of risk and uncertainty. You’ll learn to interpret stat?istics to determine probabilities of accidents, sickness, death and/or the loss of property from theft, cybercrime, natural disasters and other phenomena. Graduates will be equipped with the skills necessary to sit for actuary certification exams.

In the program, you’ll use mathematics, statistics and financial theory to study uncertain future events, especially those concerning risk management and insurance. As you work toward your Actuarial Science degree, you’ll also learn to apply the laws of probability and statistics to problems, and calculate the financial costs and benefits of insurance for various individuals. Conferences and networking opportunities hosted by DePaul’s Arditti Center for Risk Management provide you with opportunities to explore real-world risk management issues and make industry contacts.

Gain an understanding of the history of philosophy, philosophical issues regarding law, medicine and business, as well as the basic problems posed by diverse thinkers. You will also develop analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills while analyzing both the humanistic and technical features of philosophy.

Regardless of your career goals, a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy will provide you with excellent tools and skills in critical thinking, analyzing content from various perspectives, and verbal and written communication. You will learn to form arguments and take a position on an issue.

The Master of Music in performance degree prepares students for professional music careers in a supportive, collegial environment.  Graduate students study with highly celebrated performers who are committed to teaching excellence.  The graduate performance program consists of applied lessons, ensembles, core studies in music theory/history and research, and related studies.  The Master of Music degree is a two year program.

Catholic Studies majors study and work with faculty members from a number of DePaul’s colleges and departments, including anthropology, economics, English, philosophy, religious studies and the College of Science and Health. Psychological Science MA program is a highly competitive program that trains students in the theories and methodologies that define the core scientific pillars of psychology: social, developmental, cognitive and neuroscience.

With an emphasis on critical and integrative thinking, our students will understand the psychological foundations of human thought, emotions, motivation and behavior while conducting innovative research on diverse topics within psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop research and statistical skills both inside the laboratory and out in the world developing scientific solutions to real-world problems. Our program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a researcher, educator, and/or consultant in a variety of fields.

The Elementary Education (EE) degree program integrates courses and field experiences that will prepare you to teach first through sixth grade in a variety of urban and suburban educational settings, including public and private schools.

You will learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, participate in field experiences, which require you to observe and participate in teaching activities at multiple schools, and student teach.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemistry program will provide you with the fundamentals of chemical theory and practice through scientific investigation, laboratory experience and research opportunities.

As a chemistry major will have multiple opportunities to gain hands-on research experience working with chemistry faculty members conducting research projects funded through government, foundation and industry grants. Being in Chicago also allows those pursuing a BA or BS in Chemistry to attend many scientific conferences hosted in the city throughout the year.

In addition to a variety of combined degree programs, we offer a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Chemistry and Secondary Education Chemistry, allowing you to complete a bachelor’s and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

The Health Care Administration concentration provides students with the managerial and analytical skills necessary to understand and influence the processes through which hospitals, associated health care organizations, and public and private agencies provide health care opportunities to explore the roles of specific nonprofit and governmental health care providers and regulatory agencies.
