As a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a Bachelor Science (BS) in Biological Sciences major, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in a wide range of careers in science, research, education, health and other fields.

Inside and outside the classroom, you’ll learn to think independently and work collaboratively. Here, most faculty members direct their own research programs, giving you an opportunity to work on multiple research projects. Biological Sciences majors are encouraged to attend seminars and complete internships.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in education, the Department of Biological Sciences also partners with the College of Education to award teaching degrees.

The B.S. in Biological Sciences major offers you a structured curriculum, with more of an emphasis on science- and math-focused courses. As you gain a strong foundation of knowledge in biological science theories and practices, you'll choose one of the following concentrations:

• Cell and molecular biology
• Ecology and evolution
• Integrative biology
• Medicine and health
• Microbiology and biotechnology
• Neuroscience
• Physiology

DePaul’s undergraduate Finance degree will provide you with a solid foundation in financial management and an understanding of public and private financial processes, financial markets, analysis and investments.

Core curriculum focuses on banking and financial services, investment analysis/management, corporate finance management, risk management and qualitative reasoning. Our faculty of scholars and experienced professionals emphasize real-world learning. You’ll also benefit from facilities, such as the Finance Lab virtual trading room, as well as centers in behavioral finance, risk management and financial services, which connect you and our faculty to the finance industry.

If you’re interested in the Finance Honors Program, you may apply during your junior year and, if admitted, will begin honors courses in spring quarter of your junior year.

The Biological Sciences MS is a versatile degree that’s ideal for those who plan to teach, research or pursue a PhD. Become a well-rounded biologist through a combination of lecture, laboratory and seminar courses. Work on cutting-edge research in labs alongside your peers and professors—and develop your own concentration of studies under the mentorship of your faculty advisor.

Students that are admitted to the MS program are hired as teaching assistants, and provided tuition waivers and stipends. External funding opportunities through programs like the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program?, Gem Fellowship? ?(underrepresente??d students in STEM),? or Fulbright Fellowship (international students) ?are also possible.?

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.

DePaul’s political science program studies the organization and behavior of people, groups and institutions that make up political and governmental systems. You will be introduced to questions, perspectives and arguments about the political forces that shape your life.

A degree in political science incorporates historical, psychological, sociological, economic and philosophical dimensions to help you develop critical thinking, research and communication skills.

DePaul’s B.S. in Computer Science program provides essential training in the foundations of computing, data storage and information processing.

As a Computer Science major, you’ll develop a keen understanding of modern computer systems and master your programming and software development skills. You will learn about robotics, computer vision, intelligent systems and gaming, data mining and mobile systems.

The College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) is located on the Loop Campus, in the heart of Chicago’s technology and business districts, providing you many opportunities to work professionally with leading companies in information systems. The data science master’s will provide you with the technical knowledge and advanced computational skills to meet emerging challenges in big data analytics. Marketing
Some courses are available online. The Marketing concentration is designed for data science master’s students who want to combine strong technical skills in analytics with competency in marketing analytics and customer relationship management. You’ll learn how to extract information from data to support business decision making and marketing decisions.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) will prepare you for a leadership position within the public sector. You’ll develop the critical management skills you’ll need to succeed in your public service career, including:

Public Management Concentration
For those who aspire to become city managers, chief administrative officers, department directors, and senior project managers, this concentration focuses on the roles, requirements, challenges, and processes of running a public organization. Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to work successfully with professional staff, an elected governing board, consultants, and the public in the implementation of broad policy decisions. Legal issues of interest to public managers are also included.

The master's in Experience Design is an interdisciplinary program that prepares future experience designers by providing a foundation in design methods, research, and collaboration. Students learn to apply theoretical frameworks and research methods to understand systems, define problems, and communicate potential solutions and their impact. By working on collaborative projects with local communities, students learn to create design-based artifacts tied to human-centered problems in a chosen disciplinary area (e.g., web/mobile design, game design, learning design).
