The graduate jazz studies program provides students a comprehensive education in jazz, allowing students to specialize in either performance or composition. Drawing upon the resources of the Chicago jazz scene, faculty members are highly celebrated performers, teachers, composers, and arrangers. In addition to applied jazz lessons, jazz ensembles, and jazz combos, Master of Music students enroll in courses such as jazz theory, history, pedagogy, improvisation, composing, and/or arranging. Throughout the program, jazz students have multiple opportunities to record performances and compositions in professional recording studios.

For early career professionals from non-business backgrounds, the MS in Management prepares you to gain a thorough understanding of management theory and techniques. With a master’s in Management from DePaul, you’ll learn to successfully lead, manage and implement change in a wide range of organizations.

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program provides a collaborative, applied approach to public health education, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention to vulnerable populations. Gain the knowledge and practical skills to become an effective public health leader and solve problems to reduce health disparities. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• Community health practice: Assess a community’s health needs and design, implement and evaluate interventions that address those needs.
• Social epidemiology: Use biostatistics and epidemiology to inform research, policy and intervention efforts aimed at eliminating health inequalities.

The MS in Business Information Technology is offered by the College of Computing and Digital Media with some course work taken from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business (KGSB). Students gain technology management skills and core business concepts to better serve organizations in information-dependent areas. The program provides a solid base for those interested in moving their career forward through management positions in staff/line functions at various types of organizations.

In the Exercise Science (EXS) degree program you will learn the scientific principles that relate to human movement. Upon completion of your Exercise Science degree you will be qualified to pursue careers in a variety of areas in the health sciences, as well as apply for graduate programs related to the fitness and exercise sciences.

You will develop specific skills in:

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the professional organization that establishes guidelines and competencies for the field of exercise science and serves as the guide for the EXS degree program’s academic quality.

The Secondary Education program prepares you to teach 9th through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private high schools. You can graduate with a State of Illinois license to teach designated subject-area content (listed below). The program also provides you an opportunity to receive a Diploma Year Program Award (IB certification) to teach in International Baccalaureate schools world-wide.

As part of the secondary education major, you’ll learn educational theories and effective teaching practices, including how to design and implement curriculum; participate in extensive field experiences at multiple schools, and student-teach for 10 weeks.
