Our interdisciplinary studies master’s degree programs emphasize liberal studies education and enhance your intellectual skills. You’ll design your own program, which will allow you to study multiple academic disciplines, including traditional humanities, social sciences, education, business, computing and digital media.

Our nationally ranked Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) will prepare you to be a proficient, industry-ready accountant. If you’re looking to sit for the CPA exam or transition into professional accounting, but don’t have an undergraduate accountancy degree, this program is for you. With a master’s in Accountancy from DePaul, you’ll gain a solid understanding of a variety of business disciplines and their relationships to accounting issues.

DePaul’s degree in Business Administration is built upon a strong liberal arts foundation that allows you to learn from a broad business curriculum. You’re encouraged to select a variety of courses to build a wide range of expertise in areas that match your career goals.

The Business Administration degree program offers a variety of courses, giving you the opportunity to learn about fields such as entrepreneurship, management, economics and marketing.

Planning on launching your own start-up or taking over a family business? Consider taking entrepreneurship courses. Thinking about attending law school? Select business and professional ethics courses. Uncertain about your future career path? Take a range of courses across multiple business fields.

In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) and the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology programs, you’ll learn psychological theories and research methodologies, as well as gain an understanding of both scientific and applied psychology. As you work towards your bachelors’ degree in Psychology, you’ll design and conduct psychological research studies and learn how to read and analyze scientific data.

Your bachelors’ degree in Psychology coursework focuses on theories, experimental and statistical work, and laboratory and fieldwork, allowing you to gain hands-on research experience. You’ll have the opportunity to work with faculty members on research projects, as well as develop and conduct your own research projects through our independent study program.

Psychology (BS) program

You’ll choose from one of three concentrations: a General concentration, a Cognitive Neuroscience concentration, and a Healthcare concentration. These concentrations require you to take advanced courses through the Biology, Chemistry, and/or Mathematics departments. Students in the Cognitive Neuroscience program may declare a minor in Biology. Bachelor's degree in Psychology students may meet pre-health requirements while earning their degree. To ensure success, students in the Healthcare concentration are part of DePaul’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med Advising program.

DePaul offers combined degree programs such as a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Psychology and Secondary Education Social Sciences, allowing you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

In DePaul’s flexible master’s in Writing and Publishing, you have the unique opportunity to study across genres and develop and revise your work under the mentorship of acclaimed authors and poets. Choose from courses in poetry, fiction and non-fiction (travel, magazine, memoir, science writing, personal essay, etc). Professional internships give you the opportunity to join Chicago’s vibrant literary scene—and to start a rewarding creative career.

The Communication and Media program is designed for students interested in multiple fields of communication. As a communication and media major you will acquire the fundamental communication and critical thinking skills needed to enter jobs across the public, private and non-profit sectors.

While pursuing a major in media and communications, you will take courses from a variety of programs in the College of Communication and School of Cinematic Arts, including Digital Cinema, Communication and Technology, Journalism, Organizational Communication, and Public Relations and Advertising.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

In DePaul’s Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program, you’ll learn about engineering systems that integrate physical processes, computation and control. You’ll gain an understanding of how cyber-physical systems are used to manage electric grids and other infrastructures, home utilities and appliances, robots, autonomous vehicles, environmental sensor networks, traffic control, smart toys and Internet of Things (IoT) systems.

As you work toward your cyber engineering degree, you’ll learn how to:

• Analyze a simple physical process and develop a mathematical model that describes it
• Develop a feedback control system that controls a simple physical process
• Solve a computational problem by selecting appropriate data structures and algorithms
• Select the hardware (sensors, actuators, controllers, etc.) for a Cyber-Physical System
• Develop the embedded system software that manages Cyber-Physical System hardware
• Assess and improve the reliability and security of a simple Cyber-Physical System
• Integrate feedback control, algorithms, and hardware to implement a Cyber-Physical System

The Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering program takes on a multi-disciplinary approach – you’ll gain a broad and deep foundation in computer science and software development.

The Biological Sciences MS is a versatile degree that’s ideal for those who plan to teach, research or pursue a PhD. Become a well-rounded biologist through a combination of lecture, laboratory and seminar courses. Work on cutting-edge research in labs alongside your peers and professors—and develop your own concentration of studies under the mentorship of your faculty advisor.

Students that are admitted to the MS program are hired as teaching assistants, and provided tuition waivers and stipends. External funding opportunities through programs like the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program?, Gem Fellowship? ?(underrepresente??d students in STEM),? or Fulbright Fellowship (international students) ?are also possible.?

Our writing and rhetoric program is dedicated to writing degree students who will study literate activity across time and culture, and produce effective writing in contemporary settings—from the personal to the professional.

Because our lives are increasingly mediated by digital technologies that combine writing, sound and image in interactive spaces, you’ll explore what it means to live and work as a digital writer.

Faculty members who teach in the writing degree program are published specialists in rhetoric, writing studies, English as a second language (ESL), technical and professional writing, and new media studies.
