DePaul’s master’s in Sociology program is designed to expose you to key sociological methods and theory. Sociologists explore areas such as law and society, health care institutions, family life, criminology, urban development, social psychology, sports, education, political and economic behavior, media, culture and the arts.

The World Language Education (WLE) program integrates education and language courses. Your foreign language education degree will prepare you to teach kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of urban and suburban education settings, including public and private schools.

As part of this program, you will take language courses from the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and education courses from the College of Education. You will earn a BA from the College of Education, and concentrations are offered in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

In the Master of Marketing Analysis program, you’ll take a quantitative approach to real-world marketing challenges in preparation for a career in business and marketing analytics, market research, interactive marketing, or other data-driven marketing roles. You’ll develop strong foundational knowledge in

• Customer and market analysis
• Detecting trends and business opportunities
• The latest marketing analytics tools
• Decision-making strategies
• Crafting marketing strategies based on data collection and interpretation

Psychological Science MA program is a highly competitive program that trains students in the theories and methodologies that define the core scientific pillars of psychology: social, developmental, cognitive and neuroscience.

With an emphasis on critical and integrative thinking, our students will understand the psychological foundations of human thought, emotions, motivation and behavior while conducting innovative research on diverse topics within psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop research and statistical skills both inside the laboratory and out in the world developing scientific solutions to real-world problems. Our program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a researcher, educator, and/or consultant in a variety of fields.

The Theatre School’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in directing is a high octane three-year program that gives artistically ambitious directors a challenging training ground to develop and explore their artistic vision. Two students are selected to enter the program each year. All MFA Directing students are guaranteed a scholarship, which is renewable all three years.

Our curriculum focuses on marrying skill and imagination with both small seminar and active practicum courses dedicated to expanding our students' directorial toolboxes and inciting their artistry. Our production program challenges student directors to conceive, pitch, design, cast, and rehearse five fully produced projects over three seasons as resident directors in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Our distinguished faculty of working artists provide real world instruction and a direct pipeline to the field. Situated just a short walk or El ride away from some of its most storied theatres, The Theatre School shares a revolving door with the city of Chicago - one of the nation's most vibrant theatre scenes. The artists, leaders, productions, and theatres that our MFA directors come into contact with inspire them while they are in school and launch them when they graduate.

In our geography program, you’ll learn how to apply methods such as observation, visualization, analysis and modeling to explain the spatial relationships between people and their physical environments.

As a geography major, you’ll take advantage of the department’s cutting-edge technical resources and hands-on research approach. You’ll also learn how to use tools such as Google Earth, satellite image processing, computer mapping, global positioning systems (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) to stay ahead of industry trends.

In addition to a variety of combined degree programs, we offer geography majors a combined bachelor’s + master’s degree in Geography and Secondary Education Social Science, which allows you to complete a bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in as few as five years.

DePaul’s Game Programming program will teach you the fundamentals and details of programming, with a focus on the interdisciplinary aspects of game development.

Throughout your game development degree coursework, you’ll collaborate on teams with other programmers, artists, game designers, producers, writers and audio designers. Upon completion of the program, you’ll be prepared to work in computer gaming and programming, as well as interactive media fields.

The MA in Biological Sciences prepares you to communicate your knowledge of life and living systems to others. Graduates of the MA typically plan to pursue advanced education degrees or teaching positions. With a Biological Sciences MA, you will

• Learn to be an independent thinker and researcher
• Develop laboratory skills and methodologies
• Develop your own concentration in partnership with an advisor

Classes take place on the Lincoln Park Campus and are typically held in the daytime.

The MBA concentration in Marketing Strategy and Planning trains future upper-level managers to master the art of business development and marketing. This concentration puts you on a career track toward positions like chief marketing officer, creative director, senior brand manager and senior product manager.
