Gain an understanding of the history of philosophy, philosophical issues regarding law, medicine and business, as well as the basic problems posed by diverse thinkers. You will also develop analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills while analyzing both the humanistic and technical features of philosophy.

Regardless of your career goals, a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy will provide you with excellent tools and skills in critical thinking, analyzing content from various perspectives, and verbal and written communication. You will learn to form arguments and take a position on an issue.

DePaul's graduate Computer Science program is the premier training ground for computing professionals in the Chicago area. Unlike a certificate program, our master's courses focus on fundamental concepts that remain constant, even as technology changes rapidly. Unlike more research focused institutions, however, our courses emphasize the programmatic application of these fundamental concepts. Students interested in research will find an abundance of advanced topics—medical imaging, data mining, algorithmic analysis, and scientific computing, to name a few.

Higher Education Administration Concentration
For managers in post-secondary institutions of learning, this concentration teaches necessary analytical and managerial skills. The coursework helps students develop an understanding of management principles, policy analysis, and research within higher education. Electives provide opportunities to explore leadership, governance, strategic planning, budgeting, finance, law, diversity, enrollment management, marketing, student affairs, and politics in higher education.

The Master of Social Work (MSW) program will prepare you for advanced social work, with attention to professional ethics, respect for human rights and recognition of the inherent dignity of all people. The curriculum is grounded equally in theory and practical application. Choose from one of two concentrations:

• The Community Practice concentration prepares you to lead human service organizations.
• The Forensic Social Work concentration prepares you for practice and advocacy in settings where human services and the legal system intersect.

You’ll be grouped in a small cohort, which enables you to get to know your colleagues and receive individualized attention from your professors.

As part of the Grace School of Applied Diplomacy at DePaul, our Master of Applied Diplomacy program unites traditional and non-traditional approaches to the field of diplomacy. Here, we know that the work of diplomacy is not limited to members of the foreign service, but practiced by members of non-governmental organizations, business people, scientists, and community organizers.

In the Spanish program, you will study the language, literature and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Over 400 million people speak Spanish as their native language and it is the official language of 21 countries; it’s also one of the official languages of the United Nations and the European Union.

More than 40 million native Spanish speakers live in the United States, and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish will develop your fluency and communication skills in our interconnected world.

Chicago is a diverse city with numerous Latin American communities. Practice your Spanish while exploring festivals, neighborhoods, restaurants, museums, and other cultural institutions that will allow you to experience firsthand the richness of the Spanish-speaking world.

Gain insight into the global business environment and an international perspective on economic topics, including trade theory, international financial policy and emerging markets. With DePaul’s MBA concentration in International Business, you’ll be prepared to navigate effectively as a manager in a complex and ever-changing global business environment through a multidisciplinary curriculum.

The tools and methods of Applied Mathematics are in demand wherever quantitative analysis is used for strategic decision-making. The MS in Applied Mathematics gives you the expertise you need to use those tools and methods in business, industry or government.

Actuarial Science Concentration
The Actuarial Science concentration? caters to career changers as well as students who would like to further their actuarial training. It condenses a comprehensive actuarial curriculum into just two years, with an emphasis on the theory and problem-solving skills that are key to passing actuarial exams, and the computational methods that are sought after in the job market. Most of our graduates get internships and full-time jobs as actuarial analysts in insurance companies and consulting firms.

The Communication and Media program is designed for students interested in multiple fields of communication. As a communication and media major you will acquire the fundamental communication and critical thinking skills needed to enter jobs across the public, private and non-profit sectors.

While pursuing a major in media and communications, you will take courses from a variety of programs in the College of Communication and School of Cinematic Arts, including Digital Cinema, Communication and Technology, Journalism, Organizational Communication, and Public Relations and Advertising.
